I'm sure they'll be upset, but you are their child and in the end they'll love you. Dad will be a little more upset and will probably need more time, but if you are 100% gay and act it even remotely, I'm sure once they stop to think about it and discuss it together, they'll pick up on the "clues" they should have known all along. There are also lots of support groups for anyone from teenage years to older. Look them up in your area and if you are scared to face your parents, ask a friend / relative to be with you when you break the news.

Hey Capton Acorn,
You could tell them you are Capton Acorn on Yahoo Answers, and ask the to read your questions. lol
I think the ease in and discuss the topic approach is best. Perhaps your parents are understanding people, perhaps they are not. We here in answerland do not know.
You got a lot of advice above, but it seems pretty clear, you know who you are. So, perhaps your parents might like to know also.
You could sing Barbara Strisand songs around the house, hold out your pinky, and bend your wrist a lot as you speak with a newly found listhp. But I think the discussion and communication approach is the best. You don't have to jump right in, you can break it to them a sentence at a time. Think about your approach prior to the discussion, feel out their recieptiveness. Best of luck.

Talk to your parents in a confortable place, where they will not go wild. I know that you are coming out of your shell, and your parents need to know, so tell them slowly and they will accept you for who you are. Parents may say something they dont mean , but they still love you ! have a positive attitude toward the situation, put yourself in their shoes and think abou the negative and positive outcomes.!

They probably already know and they are avoiding the issue because there is a whole climate of discomfort. Rent the movie "In and Out" and ask them to watch it with you. It is a light-hearted comedy that puts people at ease about the coming out process. After you watch that and laugh about it, you will all be in a good frame of mind to discuss your coming out. Good luck!

Sit them down and tell them, there is no easy way to break the news, be prepared for a lot of emotions, especially anger from dad.

Im sure your parents have a hint that you're gay. After all, they are your parents. Just tell them, as they will be happy that you're opening up to them.

sit down with them and let them know before hand that it took you a long time to come to them and you hope that they can respect you enough to look past the problems it may cause but that you are gay and that is the lifestyle you are meant to lead and the one that you are comfy with.....GOOD LUCK
