What is the differance between women from the north and women from the south?

I grew up in the north and moved to the south about 2 1/2 years ago for a new job. I'm not really good at the approching random women to begin with.
Since I have been down south I don't seem notice the signs that females give to approch them. But every time I head back up north to visit it seems like they are coming out of the wood work & I even get approched by women all the time. Is there a differance? Why am I having such a hard time trying to figure tis out?

Women in the south are often raised not to be agressive. My mother always told me that nice girls don't call boys, so some of them may just be waiting for you to make the first move.

when I lived in the south, my experience was that they were quite closed to "yankees" I think it's quaint, albeit ignorant, that they still use that term, but I think if I had been there longer, perhaps things would have been different. After all, it does take some time to settle into their "ways"
