it isn't preventable unless you want to put her in a bubble. if your not doing anything to her have no worries. my ex did the same to me. he even called. every time i got my son back and something was wrong with him, his fathers excuse would be "he was like that when you gave him to me" although i knew better what defense did i have.last straw was when i got my son back and he had no front teeth. it was my turn to call.....needless to say he no longer seen my son. any who child services no what bruising is common for what age. my son at 4 all boy looks like he gets beat on his legs. he is a boy he plays ruff and is outside all day. it is normal. don't stress to hard about it. i no better said than done. you cant prevent it from happening without preventing your child's exploring and curiosity part of being a kid. what you can use though to avoid those bruises is witch hazel. i had never heard of it until one day at my pre-school one of my kids fell and It this huge red not on there head. my sons pre-k teacher said she had some and we used it on the little boy with in 20 minutes you never knew anything had happened. was almost magic. i don't use a lot of stuff like that. never had until now. it works though. it looks just like rubbing alcohol and works the same way. grab a cotton ball wet and wipe. no bruises. hope u try it does help. good luck and don't let the man get to ya! that's what his ultimate goal is. to make you as miserable as he feels. and the best way to do that to a mother is through her child.

My 16 month old would get red marks on her knees from crawling on the carpets. The bruise could be that she has sensitive skin and blood vessels very close to the surface. If she is just learning to walk she is going to fall and get a little bruised up. As for her head keep a close eye on her when she is walking near furniture. also try http://onestepahead.com for baby proofing items. They carry guards that go around your furniture that made of a rubbery material to help protect her little head. If she isn't getting bruised around you a lot and he can't give you a direct answer as to how she got them, then definitely start documenting everything. Take pictures of her before she goes to his house, most cameras come with a date stamp on the pic when it is taken. Some of the newer ones even come with a time stamp. This way you can see if there is a pattern developing. Good Luck and if he calls Child Protection Services they will investigate and the more documentation you have of what has been happening the better for you.

I remember watching a show about on Judging Amy that whenever the kids went over to the dad's house they always seemed to get bruises and come to find out they had a real syndrome. But Its something that you can ask your Dr. About to make sure. Here is a link about it for you to read about.

Ecchymoses

I highly ask you to ask your Dr. to do a blood test on this after you read up on this online and at other websites. Then if its not that, then I would call the DCF, the Department of Child and Family Services in your area to see if you can get full custody so the baby wouldn't have to go over their anymore.

It's normal for toddlers to get lots of bumps and bruises. However, if you are concerned about the bruising after she comes from her father, you need to call child protection yourself.

You can get some items to help prevent her from hurting herself too badly. There are pants that you can get that have padded knees to prevent carpet burn. They also have padding you can apply to the edges of furniture so they don't get hurt as much when they fall against them. Kids are going to get bumps, but the best way to prevent being hurt badly is to childproof and just be there to keep an eye on them.

Your asking how to prevent them instead of finding out the real reason she is getting them?.....There is something wrong with this picture. If she doesnt have bruises when she is with you and she is walking and crawling around, then why would you believe it only happens when she is with her father?
Wake up !!!!! something is causing these bruises and I don't think she is doing it herself. Take pictures, keep records, document everything and help you child. She can't help herself !!!!

When they walk, they tend to walk into things, fall on things...etc to cause bruises. My daughter always had them on her legs. It's completely normal for kids this age to have bruises on her legs. Even if your child isn't walking, she's crawling and crawling OVER things. I highly doubt the father is abusing her. That's crazy. Kids are clumsy. Any mother of a crawling/learning to walk toddler would tell you that.

At 20 months your child should be walking. But if you are serious, take pics of your child B4 she goes to fathers. This way u have documented proof of any bruises.

Your 20 month old gets bruises from crawling? Thats a little... far fetched.

Let him call child protection. They will come in, investigate the situation, and find nothing wrong. Unless you are endangering her welfare. But it sounds more like he is.

your question makes no sense, it goes from you picking the child up with bruises to him saying there were no bruises when he gave her to you.

Please seek education.
