Many cars, Hondas, Toyotas, Volvos, Mercedes Benz, have been known to go for many 100s of thousands of miles...
The secret is to keep them carefully maintained... regular oil changes and upkeep...
Wax twice a year helps alot too...

ABSOLUTELY! I have a 1989 Supra with 230K. It still runs great. and it still looks good too. The quality of materials and workmanship on the better Toyota's is excellent. If you would like a little more room and luxury you might also look as some Avalon's. They are one of the absolute best buy's in the near luxury category and they still get great gas mileage too.
As far as longevity, just keep the oil changed and other fluids fresh. (especially the cooling system) And if it has high mileage, try to find out when the timing belt was last changed. If you're not sure, get it done. And it goes without saying that you should get any used car thoroughly checked out by a good mechanic before you buy it. There is no reason that these well built cars can't run for a long, long time.

Yes, a well maintained drive-train will bring you into the promise land of 200K and more. Are you willing to pay for the maintenance?
Hopefully the Camry you are eyeing up has had this up keep. Get the maintenance records if possible of this car and go over it before you buy.

I have a camry. It's not a 96 it's an 04. I bought it brand new in Nov. 03. So I've had it for almost 3 years. My dad convinced me to buy a camry cause he said they were the most relaible cars with the most longivity. I've never had a problem with it. All I've ever done to it is of course change the oil and filter, balance and rotate my tires, you know, the usual maintenance.

Toyotas can be a very good vehichle if they are taken care of. I had a truck that had the 22R engine in it and it still runs today even after my 16 year old raced it behind my back. I would have it today but I lost it in the divorce. Bu the truck is still running and doing good on gas mileage. If you know the car has been taken care of and it is a fair price you should be alright.
