IRS - Aug 28, 2006 for individual income tax filing see this link http://www.irs.gov/newsroom/article/0,,id=147240,00.html for more see IRS Pub 4492 at the IRS web site irs.gov . I don't know about Louisiana, but states usually follow the IRS lead. They also should have a web site.

The deadline has been extended to Oct. 16th for some filers. You should find the attached link helpful.
