I'm not sure whether to laugh or worry about the dogs health. But....I do want to share a similar thing with you.
Growing up, my aunt and uncle had a pet Groundhog....he lived in a huge cage in their house. This groundhog smoked cigarettes and chewed gum. He could drink out of a bottle or glass. It was the most hilarious thing to watch. Have fun with your dog, and hopefully he will live a long life.

There are many reasons for a dog to pick up cigarettes and chew/eat it. First of all, the taste. One of the many reasons people smoke is for the flavor. Do you smoke menthol or a flavored smoke? That may smell/taste good to a dog. Second, the smell. If a dog has been around cigarettes all its life it is possible for it to develop a like for the smell, just like humans do. If you have been without a smoke for awhile and you pass by one, it smells good to you and you want one, same idea. Thirdly, the dog sees it as a game. The dog picks up a smoke, you chase it, the dog has fun. I smoke and I have placed restrictions on myself to make sure that my dogs are not exposed to nicotine. Nicotine is the chemical in tobacco that is a deadly poison to dogs, cats, birds, and insects. It is used as an insecticide in developing nations.

First of all, did you know that any kind of tabacco can kill a dog. Keep all tabacco out of his reach before it's too late. Also, second hand smoke can do alot of damage to any dogs lungs, much less a humans. If you have to smoke, and you don't want any harm to come to your dog, do it outside. I have dogs and I'm a smoker and when I want to smoke I go outside. I found also that it's one way for you to cut down or stop smoking all together, because there are times when you don't really want to have to go outside whenever you want to smoke but at the same time , if you love your dog enough, and you don't want to harm him, it's so worth it and eventually becomes routine.

Stop leaving your cigs where he can pick them up! You smell the cig and want it, so does he, but try opening all the tobacco in a pack, scrunch it in a ball and eat it, can and will be extremely painful, to him deadly. If you can't remember to leave them out of reach start teaching the "NO" command. Thank you, you may have saved a pet today.

I had a dog that would pick up a beer bottle and drink. He also loved rum and coke. The only thing he would ever beg for is the bong. This was many years ago. I'm clean and sober now. :)

If you are silly enough to smoke and kill yourself then you should smoke outside as the as pets can suffer from secondary smoke worse than humans, esp cats with tiny lungs.
so don't be so selfish and think of your poor dog.

Why would or could you ever allow that... that is animal cruelty, shame on you! Cigarette smoke is bad for all, not just humans.
