I'm a Christian and believe in tithing and if we all had the attitude "I'm not going to tithe" then the church would be in a financial mess, and we would not be able to afford to send missionarys out. As far as I'm concerned all the money I own belongs to God and he has blessed me with it, I think He deserves at least 10% of my money and 100% of my heart. Thats my 10c.

After attending Christian and Catholic churches in the United States and watching how they manage the tithes I don't tithe to churches. I give directly to those in need. I don't belong to a religion because religions are evil organizations that go against God. I believe in one living God the creator of all things who says he gave his own son for the sins of the world and sent the holy spirit to comfort us until his return.

I am a Christian and the church I attend (Calvary Chapel) does not take up a formal offering. We don't do that because Tithing is something that is personal and not something that the church should make a big deal out of. We have a offering box at the back of our sanctuary and you put your money in there if you choose to do so. My husband and I give 10% because that is what we are instructed to do in the Bible. We believe what the Bible says about trusting god with our fiances and giving Him his share. It also helps to know that other than paying for the rent for our church the money goes to help the less fortunate people in our church and our community. Our pastors are not paid by choice of their own.

Right now I am not in church, but I am a Baptist. When we was in church we tithed once a week. Then we started getting behind in bills and was unable to tithe as much, but I know God knew this too. I believe everyone should support there church and missionarys by tithing what they can. Not all that tithe money goes to your pastor. It also helps get supplies for the Sunday school and so forth.

I believe if we have the faith to give to God what is his anyway we can do more. With God in control, if you tithe only 5%, you can do more with that 95% then you could ever do with 100%. I've seen it. Me and my b/f friend do not make a lot, but every month we get our bills paid and have food in our bellies. We are truly blessed. Every Sunday we tithe about the amount we spend on groceries and we are blessed b/c of it.

I believe that everyone in the church should tithe. Tithe is not only a way to help the church, it is also what we are supposed to do in accordance with the scriptures. Leviticas 27:30-33 Says " A tithe of everything from the land, whether grain from the soil or fruit from the trees, belongs to the Lord; it is holy to the Lord. If a man redeems andy of his tithe, he must add a fifth of the value to it. The entire tithe of the herd and flock -- every TENTH animal that passes under the shepherd's rod -- will be holy to the Lord. He must not pick out the good from the bad or make a substitution . If he does make a substitution, both the animal and its substitute become holy and cannot be redeemed."

The word "Tithe" in itself means ten. So when we give our Tithe we are giving a tenth of what we have to God. Although the passage in Leviticus suggest that we give cattle and flocks and land sometimes that is impossible. The basic meaning of this passage is that everyone is to give the best of what he has to God. God will take that tithe and make it holy.

Leviticus is not the only place in scripture that you see the word tithe. Take a look at Malachi 3:8-12. It says " Will a man rob God? Yet you rob me. But you ask, 'How do we rob you?' In Ttithes and offerings. You are under a curse-- the whole nation of you-- because you are robbing me. Bring the whole tiehte into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house. 'Test me in this,' says the Lord Almighty, ' and see if i will not throw open the floodgates of heaven annd pour out so much blessing that you will not have room enough for it. I will prevent pests form devouring your crops, and the vines in your fields will not cast their fruit,' says the Lord Almighty. ' Then all the nations will call you blessed for yours will be a delightful land, ' says the Lord almighty.'"

As you can see from this passage anyone who does not pay his/her tithe is robbing God from what is rightfully his. He gave us everything that we have and he deserves to get a portion, if not all, of it back. (tenth)

In matthew chapter 22:17 the parasees come to Jesus and ask him question. They ask "Is it right to pay taxes to Ceaser or not. " Jesus answers them by asking them who's portriat is on the coin in verse 19. When they reply that it is Ceasers, Jesus tells tthem this, " Give to Ceasar what is Ceasar's, and to God what is God's.

What matthew is saying here is that we need to give toGod what he deserves.

So, why do i believe in tithing? I believe in tithing be cause we are to give to God what is his. He has blessed each and everyone of us so much that it will not hurt us to give back to God what it rightfully his. Oh and by the way i do tithe. My tithe may not be a whole lot but what really matters is that i am giving the first fruits of my labor to God who so graciously gave me the ability to make the money to live.

I'm Catholic. Tithing is an important way to raise funds for the Church. Many people want to get the benefits of a church life without paying or by only paying a tiny amount. I give what I can every Sunday mass, knowing the church will be there for me if I need it.

The original idea of tithing was to support the priests. It is not a commandment. Churches have latched onto the idea to become rich on the generosity of good people who believe that giving up their money will get them into heaven. It's based on fear and very lucrative.

Yes. The 'church' I grew up in did not advocate tithing. I have studied for myself and found it is not part of the done away 'old testament'; (violating 2 Tim. 2:15). Yes we are to tithe.

Raised Christian, I have become more open-minded and spiritual rather than strictly Christian. I believe you should give of yourself and that you get back ten times over anything that you give to the world. I believe God wants us to share in what he gives us and we are rewarded for our generosity, but that God doesn't want the money, personally. Frankly, it comes down to men wanting money and stressing tithing to guilt people into giving, which defeats the purpose, if you ask me. We should give because we want to be good and pleasure in the joy of others.
