they can be bred anytime of the year.Birds for showing are bred calculated for the young to be ready to ring for showing as the new rings for the year are issued, pet birds can be bred any time of the year as long as they are fit to breed[males cere nice and blue, hen cere brown]the birds will call and fly around excited. If either of the birds are not fit the will be grumpy and chase the other away or just keep flying away. put two birds that appear fit together you will see almost at once if the are compatible the male will approach the hen and tap her beak with his beak and try to feed her if she responds leave them together if she chase him away take the male away and try again every couple of days[always take the male to the hen if breeding in cages which is the best way to breed as most damage done to birds is by the hens fighting over nest boxes and any problems are easier to spot]if after 4 or 5 attemps they still dont get on then try other parings,as i always advise look under budgerigar on web site ,you will find loads of breeders willing to help they can advise on pairing and colour expectations, one of the best i know is Galibi el nasser type is name and you should be able to access is web site,or email me with any queries you have

We have some good answers. My specifications for breeding are:
For time of year: My budgies (kept in large outdoor aviaries in mild climate)
prefer November and December with the longer days for breeding. I have attempted summer breedings, but where I live it is too dry and it is difficult. I assume that indoor breeding would be easier, but that is not an option for me.
For everyday food, budgies need a plain seed mix, kept in sealed containers so you don't get bugs. Also supplement millet, and very well washed lettuce on occasion. During breeding, for extra health I feed canary seed (along side the normal) or oat groats, which are whole oats. All of this should be available in a bird store.
For nests, many different sizes are recommended. Always use a nest box, budgies nest in cavities. Also, do not use bedding, as this makes dust and it can be ingested by the chicks. Parakeets will hollow out the bottom of the nest box (a good box will have the beginnings of a hollow on the bottom) for a nest. They don't need nest material. I hope this helps, remember, always have lots of fresh water available for your birds at all times, as well as food, budgies need to have food available all the time. I hope this helps.

I used to breed them, had trouble getting paid from a chain store, and quit.
Parakeets will breed year round if their environment is maintained warm enough. And there is sufficient light.
The nest box should be fitted with a round bottom so the eggs will navigate to the middle.
Parakeets are a community bird, in that they won't breed if they haven't got a society around them. Many are that way such as Finches etc.
Know also that if the male is 'rejected' that if you pair up to a certain female, she will kill it. Usually by biting off it's head.
Your aviary should be airy, light, and above 80degrees full time.
Since Africa is their native land.
Mites will be your biggest problem.
Food will be no 2 in problems and cost. Diseased food can't be detected unless you get anthrax. Watch for fleas.

They havent even had their first moult at that age or have been given a colored cere at that age. 2 months is 8-9 weeks old...in simple terms 4 weeks out of the nest.....and referred to as infant BUDGIES. nevertheless growing to be their own bones, on no account strategies putting calcium into making eggs and toddlers ! wherein worldwide does every physique call a 8 week old infant budgie an person and sufficiently old to reproduce ?! you may must be a reckless fool to purpose and breed your toddlers and lead them to have toddlers. possibly one or the two might die interior the attempt, and your little test would be for no longer something. 365 days they are sufficiently old to reproduce thoroughly and raise toddlers.............mature the two bodily and mentally waiting to rear and feed chicks from egg to fledging factor. No nestboxes must be everywhere close to them until eventually they are over 365 days of age. Throw away your stupid unwell-counseled e book and use trouble-free experience. Whoever wrote that e book ( if it says whay you're saying it does ) desires incredible.

Budgies normally breed during the spring and fall. During the summer it is too hot for the mother to properly incubate the eggs and during the winter the days are too short.

They breed during the late spring and summer when the daylight hours are long. However they are flock breeders and need the noise of several pairs to encourage them to breed.

Budgies are sexy little buggers and can mate at any time of the year providing you have a mating box so that the hen can lay eggs.
Budgies are so cute. Good luck.

pet birds are different from wild birds when it comes the their breeding cycle. as long as you provide all the right materials and nest for your birds ,,they can breed all year which would be unhealthy for them,,they are only to have 2 clutches per year.

I am sure they have a specific breeding season in the wild but in captivity they can be bred indoors year-round.
