Walk, Lay on side, change position as often as needed, get a back rub, warm bath.Sometimes what you do for bad period cramps (with out meds) can help too.. Try as much as you want and do whatever you can to stay relaxed and COMFORTABLE AS POSSIBLE you'll need to try and stay clam and focused so you'll have you energy for later when you really need it. Congrats and best of luck

Having a bath is supposed to be a good one but i found i was so big it wasn't comfortable and only spent about 5mins in there!! Be careful not to have the water too hot though as this can stop contractions altogether.

I was at home for 2hrs with contractions before i went to hospital and when they started they were only 15mins apart going down to 5mins apaort when we left for hospital. the best thing i did which i can advise is to do something to take your mind off of it- like watching TV.

Try to relax and do nt rush to hospital. I had four kids and i couldnt even say how many false labours! Braxton-Hicks contractions can be very convincing and getting sent home again from hospital carrying all your things can be very heart-breaking!!!!! A bath is a good idea, and try to clear your bowels. Drink lots of water to stay hydrated and keep moving!

All the above answers are good. Eating is a good idea if you can stomach it, just in case you don't get much chance, but also pack some easily digestible snacks in your bag and drinks.

Relaxation, and or distraction. Think positively. Imagine the contractions opening your cervix gently.

Good luck!

Have some paracetomol and a bath. Get your boyfriend/husband to rub your back and watch your favourite movie. It'll be the last chance you get to spend some time sitting down in front of the tv for a long time! lol!

Honestly, the best thing you can try to do is go to bed and sleep because your going to need it.
When i started with my early contractions i managed to sleep for two hours while my partner stayed up, 4 hours later i felt pretty good and he was exhausted.

I just walked from room to room, but I didn't have time to do anything else as my labour took 1hr 25 from start to finish. The midwife arrived (homebirth) 10 minutes after my son!

Have a nice warm bath. And make sure your bag is packed ready to go, go, go! And, if your waters break, call the hospital immediately. Good luck!

Walk through the pain and get your partner to rub your back, but don't scream at him if he does it wrong.
