If you are an adult (mid 20's) and your boyfriend constantly tells you you are the one he is going to marry and you have been dating for over a year is it too soon to be engaged? Am I crazy that I'd like to be engaged now and have a long engagement and plan the wedding for a year and a half from now? He says he is ready but because he is not ready finacially then it makes his mind not ready. This confuses me, help.
MORE INFO....He also told me that there was a point in his last relationship where he told his ex girlfriend he was going to marry her just to make her be quiet but assures me he is not oing this with me.

Don't wait~ If you love each other, go for it! My husband and I knew from day one we'd be together forever, but never married till four years later..now we're coming up on our one year anniversary and it's like "wtf" it should be 'five' years now, but it's only one..u know. :)

You don't know to break the bank on a wedding either!! People have this weird notion "oh i have to plan my dream wedding and spend oodles and oodles of dollars on this and that"
I spent about 1000 on my wedding in total, I bet not even that much. Just parents and grandparents there. Nothing too special, small quiet and comfortable, and everyone thought it was the most intimate and comfortable wedding they'd seen. I was completely satisfied and would never change it!

There is no such thing as too soon. Some people are engaged for 5 years and the marriage doesn't work, others are married 5 days after they meet and it lasts forever.
Just depends on the couple

My man told me the same thing, Hes ready to get married and i am THE ONE,,,,but we both know its not possible because financially we arent ready either. We been together for 2 yrs...but i dont think there is a time limit on when someone gets engaged and married....If you are in love with eachother then go for it when the time is right for you.

No it's not too soon to be engaged. Don't start the planning though, because if he says he's not ready financially then there'll be more stress than you want or need.

The past is the past. Let it go. If he is willing to get down on one knee and ask for your hand in marriage, that means that he has chosen you and only you.

Marriage has nothing to do with job. You are 20 years and at right age to marry. Do not delay just get married. If he is not ready then there might be some more ulterior reason. Be shrewd and brutally frank with your boy friend and tell him what you want.
