System crashes whenever I save or print a file from CD-R/RW drive. I've tried a new driver so the problem is probably with Windows Explorer.

Repairing without reformatting can be done..... sometimes. Win98 was very fickle and repairs don't always work. Here's a link that might be able to help:

Depends on what its crashing with.

Clean CD-R/RW Drive with Head Cleaner

Presuming your CD Drive is D:\ try in DOS:
Print D:\{Filename} >{LPT Port i.e. LPT1}

May be Memory Cache issue, increase size of Virtual Memory and Defrag HDD.

You can do an Install of W98 over the top of current W98 without formatting the HDD, it will just be fresh W98, it will leave the rest of the HDD alone.

Stick the W98 Cd in and install over the top. It should just replace the files or might even have a window repair feature.
You could always install to a folder other then WINDOWS

Unfortunately you can't, millions of users have suffered the same.

Most windows based applications crash, because of Windows.

I just can't believe that such a bad product be the leader of the market, it is the worse software product of the history.

We should litigate against Microsoft for that fraudulent products they sell.
