And your point is what exactly?
So what. Tomatoes are fruit.

"Technically the tomato is a fruit, although it is commonly considered a vegetable because of its uses. The tomato is classified in the division Magnoliophyta, class Magnoliopsida, order Solanales, family Solanaceae."

Is the world going to come to an end if people can't decide weather a tomato is a fruit or a vegetable.

Who cares?!

clean tomatoes in CA are on their way out for being great clean. although, canned ones are canned on the peak of freshness and that replaced into purely weeks in the past whilst the season ended. there are various places growing to be 'warm abode' tomatoes indoors. in the journey that your dish demands usual tomatoes, then canned is effective.

Why so much fuss.
It is a fruit as it is often eaten directly or sliced
It is a vegetable as it is also often used for cooking.

Therefore it should be equally acceptable to call it both a fruit and vegetable.

It is used to flavour our cooking, then should it be called a spice?
If it is used to add the reddish colour to our food during cooking, are we going to call it a food colouring?

Why can't it be acceptable for it to be called different types of food due to its variety of ways it can be used.
I think we should not be so paranoid to label anything strictly. We should see it as a type of food but with overlapping different uses.
