When I flew (F86,F89 and F102), it was the F102 that was the first "fly by wire" aircraft. So in that sense, it used remote control technology, since, unlike the other two birds, the "joy stick" was connected to the three computers that controlled the ship remotely, rather than having cables running from the yoke to the control surfaces.
