Isaiah 64:6-7
6But we are all as an unclean [thing], and all our righteousnesses [are] as filthy rags; and we all do fade as a leaf; and our iniquities, like the wind, have taken us away.
7And [there is] none that calleth upon thy name, that stirreth up himself to take hold of thee: for thou hast hid thy face from us, and hast consumed us, because of our iniquities. (KJV)

No, they are not filthy rags, their righteousness is.

There is none righteous, no, not one; There is none who understands; There is none who seeks after God. They have all turned aside; They have together become unprofitable; There is none who does good, no, not one." Romans 3:10-12

Our righteousness is in Christ ALONE:

And this I pray, that your love may abound still more and more in knowledge and all discernment, that you may approve the things that are excellent, that you may be sincere and without offense till the day of Christ, being filled with the fruits of righteousness which are by Jesus Christ, to the glory and praise of God. Philipians 1:9-11

You are actually being very ignorant. I am a Christian and not arrogant at all. I am a very kind, caring person.

You need to read the whole thing and take it in context (do you know what that means)?

Try reading this...

64:6,7 If God would show His face, the nations would tremble. Because of sin, God hides that same holy face from His people, (v.7). All are ‘unclean’, the language a leper was to use of himself, (Leviticus 13:45). Our righteous acts, instead of impressing God and winning His favor, are like a woman’s menstrual cloth to Him. Fading leaves (1:30) show the tree is dying; they fall, and the wind drives them away, (Psalm 1:4). His people do not stir themselves, as in Psalm 103:1,2, to seek God by calling on Him in prayer and worship. Failure to worship is shown here to be part of the ugliness of sin, (James 4:17). God hides His face from them and they waste away in sinfulness. The Bible was not written to impress us with compliments, but to save us with truth.

I'm willing to bet that you met a Christian that wasn't arrogant, but you just didn't know they were a Christian at the time.

Your quotation of the scripture and interpretation is right, however your generalization is not. Chances are, you've had bad experiences with radically evangelical Christians trying to push religion down your throat.

Yes I agree with you, some of us are so overjoyed by the Holy Spirit that we sometimes can't keep all the excitement inside ourselves.

The Bible speaks of our, that's everyone of us, righteous acts are as filthy rags, (bloody menstruation rags) compared to the righteousness of God.

This is not specific. Its not calling out to one class of people. It speaks to us all.><>

OUR righteousness are filthy rags, because we are sinful men. This is why we need the blood of Jesus applied in our lives, so we can be clothed in HIS righteousness. Didn't you ever wonder why God didn't accept Cain's offering?

All (of) OUR RIGHTEOUSNESS is as filthy rags. Trying to establish oneself as righteous (acceptable) to God apart from His prescribed method equates with complete failure. You cannot satisfy God's requirement for perfect judgment with you own works. That is as "filthy rags" to Him. There is only one way that a human being can be found to be righteous before Him, that is by receiving HIS RIGHTEOUSNESS from Jesus Christ - by faith in Him. Ephesians 2:8&9 says, "For by grace (God's provision for righteousness) are you saved by faith; and that (is) not not of yourselves (not your righteousness): it is the gift of God. (Righteousness is) Not of works, lest anyone should boast."

You cannot earn God's approval, you can only receive His free gift of justification (ie, declared "not guilty") and that is by believing upon the Lord Jesus Christ.

"But after that the kindness and love of God our Savior toward man appeared, NOT BY WORKS OF RIGHTEOUSNESS WHICH WE HAVE DONE, but according to His mercy He saved us..." (Titus 3:4&5)

The arrogance you are referring to is probably just the assurance that we have, because we have found the real thing. You may perceive us to be "cocky" because of this. When you are certain of what you believe with everything in you and you no longer have any degree of reservation concerning it, there is a boldness that results.

Because in terms of western society, Christians rule the world! Personally I couldn't care less what religion people are. America goes on about Islamic terrorists blowing stuff up, but the IRA blow stuff up too, and Americans love the Irish! So what's the diffrence? Is it because Muslims are predominently brown skinned, where as the Irish have rosy-red cheeks and act like eejits?

Their righteousness is as filthy rags, not the Christian himself. We are not to think more highly of our selves than we ought.

Christians are no more arrogant than any other group of people. Or are you suggesting that Christians are the only ones who claim their beliefs are correct? lol

We are all equal in God's eyes, unless we ask for His forgiveness and righteousness.
