Your heart stops beating. Your synapses slow their firing until you are brain dead and no electrical current is flowing through the nervous system. Your body will generally expel any waste matter (air, urine, feces) being held. Sometime around this time, you will either discover that there is an afterlife of some sort, or you will blink into nothingness, with absolutely no consciousness to be aware of the fact that there is no afterlife. The body will begin the approach to rigor mortise. And bacteria will begin decomposing the body. Years and years later, only ash (and perhaps fossilized bones) will be left of your body. If there is an afterlife, you will never be able to tell anyone. If there isn't, you will never be able to tell anyone. Those who say they know the truth about the afterlife, either way, are not intellectually honest. Which is why this question will continue to evoke philosophical debate ad infinitum.

I believe it's a combination of 1 and 2. You go to heaven and wait until the time is right then you start preparing for another lifetime on earth.

There are no separate places called heaven or hell.
After the physical death, all human souls enter the spiritual world of God; each experiences the condition of hell or heaven depending on his obedience or disobedience to the Messenger of God on earth. This is the only chance for man to make appropriate choice; there will be no reincarnation to make the change.

Depends on your level of spiritual enlightenment and what you want to do. You can seek spiritual growth in the astral realm, which might take eons, or you can choose to take the fast track and reincarnate but it's entirely your choice. You are programmed to return to the source of life as an enlightened soul and the desire to do that shapes your existence after death.

After losing my final breathe my spirit will go to heaven leaving my material body here on earth. I believe in eternal life..a magnificent life with GOD.
Thus, it`s not death we must fear but the fear of not trying to live our life to the fullest!

You go to heaven or to hell. Where you end up was a result of a choice you made when you were alive.

The part of your soul that is you, your personality and your conscious (called the ti-bon ange) goes to heaven. God is a kind papa and he lets everyone in. The other part of your soul that is your life force that animates your body (gros-bon ange) goes under the water to be with your ancestors until it is reborn into one of your descendents.

According to the Bible if you have accepted JESUS as your personal savior you will go to heaven, if not you will spend eternity in HELL. Want you pray this simple prayer and ask Jesus to forgive you of your sins, come into your heart.

according to the Bible, we die
Ecc 9:5 For the living know that they shall die: but the dead know not any thing, neither have they any more a reward; for the memory of them is forgotten.
Then hopefully Jesus will ressurect us unto eternal life.
