Nobody ever said plant identification was easy. Often when you are using a plant key to determine a plants name it will come down to the flower structure - can be very complex and darn difficult at times.

please start by reassuring us that you *buy* all your food and don't go hunting or foraging.
plants tend to have something green on them and make their own energy via photosynthesis. Animals require external energy inputs - generally starting by consuming plants.
It's pretty easy to tell them apart by yourself.
But if you ever come across something like a mushroom or coral, i think things could get tricky for you.
