People in large groups often tend to distrust change. This new pope is just that, new. Let him get his stuff together before you just dismiss him as no good. Pope John Paul was a known factor to all and was in office for a very long time. He had awhile to get everyone's approval. This pope comes into office following the footsteps of a great man and in the middle of what is the nastiest mess in the middle east we have seen for a long time. That is not his fault. Nor was it wrong of him to quote the truth written by a 14th century theologian, which has already been proven by the Muslims themselves. I think what he did took courage and that all free nations should have come in and backed him up 100%. By the way, I am not even Catholic and I applaud his ability to take a stand for what is right and what is wrong.

It's too early to say.
Pope Benedict never said he was against true Muslims; his comment was against fanatic Muslims who will end the world today if you give them the chance.
Benedict was telling the truth and the fanatic Muslims proved that he was correct. Killing a catholic nun is utterly disgraceful...Muslims should bow their heads in shame.

Silence against evil creates more evil. Unless we speak up against the evil Muslims we are also evil.
The Pope is a good good, very good man. Go Pope!

JP II was a wise learned man. The current pope is just an ignorant bigot.

while i prefer JP2 (because i'm polish) i think benedict needs to be given a chance. he quoted information from the past to help them know that the future needs to be changed from the past. ubfortunately, instead of showing him they ARE peace filled and loving - contradicting the quote -- they proved the 14th century speaker correct.
