anxiety, hence the citalopram, you may also be having trouble sleeping, i have been prescribed the same to regulate my sleep pattern, which in turn causes anxiety, depression. one of the side effects of citalopram is drowsiness, and personally i find this a better option than a pure sleeping tablet, which i believe to be highly habit forming. it took a week or so to notice any difference but you should feel a little "picked up".
good luck with yourself
sometimes i find just chatting about things helps resolve a lot of my "issues". and try to remember that you didnt always feel nervous and down, confidence will come back to you.. relax
p.s if you get a feeling of being a little spaced out, ask your doc about trying SERTRALINE.

Well my doctor put me on citalopram 20mg because I have tinnitus and people have reported it helps. Not only did it have no affect on the tinnitus, but it turned me into a zombie with no interest in anything, even my hobbies.
My doc said I could just stop taking them if I wanted to, so I did. Just a warning...for heavens sake don't just stop.....when it comes to it, wean yourself off very very slowly over a few months, as the withdrawal symptoms, if I had taken them for depression, would have made me feel my condition had returned and I needed to go back on them! Awful symptoms, dizziness, sweats, confusion, headaches. Maybe they're made that way to sell more......cynical ain't I?!

If you have doubts about the pharmaceutics being the right ones for what you are suffering from, go to a different doctor to see what he says. That way you will find out is she/he will agree with those pills or if they advice other ones and you will also have more information's on your condition.

My doctor put me on citalopram when I was depressed - post natal depression turned into mild depression when it was undiagnosed. Are you or have your been pregnant.

I can't answer that, not having medical qualifications!
But if you don't know or haven't asked the prescribing doctor, I would assume that is a bigger problem. Putting unquestionable faith in a system!

I haven't the foggiest idea, and since I don't prescribe medicines, I'm totally happy with that.
The main point is, do YOU know what you're suffering from?
