where are all those moderate muslims i keep hearing about?

i hear time after time that the radicals have hijacked islam.
i submit that they have sligtly perverted it for personal gain but that the majority subscribe to the aims of islam which has violence and evil at it's core.
am intelligent enough to know there are moderates in everything.
for those of you who say you know moderate muslims,i would bet that they are present in the US.
the rest of the muslim world are not and those are the ones i fear.
whenever there occurrs an insult,attack on islam or they perceive one what is the result?
violence!.rioting,people dieing,desire to kill the offender(s).

I agree. The notion that there are significant numbers of moderate muslims, somewhere in the world, is a myth. I believe that it is a lot of wishful thinking on the part of liberals. Unless and until the moderates rise up and clamp down on the Islamo-fascists, I won't believe moderates exist.

I'm one of the moderates that you hear of them.
You talk about Islam in a way that makes the reader of your question think that you have visited the Islamic countries and Muslims in the past. Why do you talk about Muslims without even knowing their cultures and religion closely in their countries.
And why do you fear Muslims, Muslims are not monsters, they are humans whose lands were occupied and invaded by US and European Armies and Forces. When Muslims defend their lands against occupation, all the world says look Muslims are terrorists.
Concerning 9/11 in New York, the Madrid Bombs, the London Bombs ..., as a Muslim I consider these acts as acts of terror and they don't represent Islam.
You will say how this doesn't represent Islam and the persons who do such acts are Muslims, if you want to follow this rule then the Americans who are killing inocent Iraqi people in Iraq in the name of Freedom are Christians, does this mean that all Christians are terrorists.
When a certain person or a certain group does something bad to another group this doesn't mean that they represent the majority.
So wake up people, know what Islam is, visit Islamic countries and know Muslims more closely, then judge the Islamic religion.

If you are really a moderate person, you wouldn't ask this question.

There are moderate muslims out there, and most of them are intelligent, educated and understand the true meaning of Islam. I have some co-workers who are Muslims and it baffeles them why some Muslims get all riled up over a cartoon or a speach (made by the Pope). But the news concentrates on the negative aspects of well, everything. If it doesn't have drama, climax or tension it's not newsworthy.

Why do you think you only see one small segment of a human interest story on the local/national news everyday, but majority of it is concentrated on some tension or disturbing event?

Look within your community to spot some moderate muslims, i'm sure you'll find them...

There are many moderate Muslims. But, they are not the sensational news the others are, so the media does not mention them

There are many times the moderate stand up and speak.

Just recently they had a march/demonstration in Washington DC. Did you hear about that on the News? Doubtful.

Look up moderate Muslims on the Net. You will find they are at work to change things.

There are either Muslims who follow the Quran or;
Muslims who use the Quran to mask their ulterior motives.

This is akin to the old Roman church of medieval ages whose call for Crusades was in exchange of pardons, anointment of Kings and spiritual rewards in the form of earthly recompense.

True Muslims do not kill for Any reason. The popularised Jihad when read in the whole context, refers to the spiritual fight inside one's being.

The closest one may allude to is cartoons showing angel and devil around the same person, like those of TinTin comic books.

To answer your question, the rational decision would therefore be the "Moderate" Muslims as the remainder of countries and villages not brought into the conflict for some egotistical power hungry authority posing behind religion, as a convenient excuse.

I shall not name moderates so that zealots of a self-made religion claiming Islam as theirs to not cause further confusion and harm.

Moderate!!! They are not yet in actions. According to a study conducted by a London base research company (believed it or not) they said, all muslim are possible terrorist because of the teaching of their Qur'an, Hdith etc. According to them, all muslim imitate muhammad actions in the best way they could.
