Sounds like more than a bad habit. Cutting is a form of obsessive compulsive disorder. You may need to see a doctor. There are medications that can help.
If you can't get to a doctor you need to take up a hobby that uses your hands. Knitting was a really good idea. You could make yourself some cute sweaters and scarves and keep your hands occupied at the same time. Maybe try a video game too.

Habits are familiar and comforting. It might be best to start a new habit or two to replace the old one.
Have you tried knitting? It's great for focus, concentration, being creative and avoiding behaviors involving the hands. I use it to prevent myself from biting my fingernails and chewing on my cuticles. There's no reason it couldn't work for cutting, also.

Try praying to God in Jesus NAME!
Jesus can fix it
Only if you believe he can
If you don't believe
he won't force you to get better!
