What exactly do you think a soul is? What properties does it have? What part of 'you' resides in the soul?

If it's postulated that consciousness, or awareness, or sense of self resides in the soul, it's difficult to see how this can be reconciled with the complete oblivion which accompanies general anaesthesia. How could a straightforward chemical, injected into the bloodstream, anaesthetise a soul so that it effectively ceases to exist during this time? If consciousness, in the form of a soul, were some kind of supernatural faculty, it would seem implausible that it could be completely disabled by a chemical.

How about some of the other things which we regard as essential parts of what makes a person what they are? How about love, compassion, reason, empathy, memory, conscious thought, character, 'spirituality' and so on? Well, there is really no plausible doubt that all these things are properties of the physical brain - We can alter all of these properties very simply with alcohol or other drugs, and observe how they change in people who have suffered significant brain damage. Previously placid people become uncontrollably violent, intelligent people become imbeciles, and so on. Stimulate the brain artificially, and the subject reports corresponding mental activity, e.g. 'religious experiences'. We can see from brain research that all these things - thought, emotion, sensation, character traits and so on - are correlated with activity in the brain, and some things can be identified with specific areas of the brain.

So, if all these faculties and characteristics of what we regard as the 'person' reside in the physical brain, as seems to be undeniably the case, and they all cease when the person dies, then what is left to be attributed to a 'soul'? As far as I can ascertain: Nothing. If there is no part of us that can continue after death, then there is no 'afterlife'... and if there is no afterlife, then most of religion is null and void.

There is no proof.
All you have is a belief.
I choose not to believe, because everything else about religion is a farce.
You cannot prove an afterlife exists and neither can these so called "respected" names in society.
And the Great Randi isn't a skeptic.
He gives each and every claim its due day.
He admits when things are a little odd, but ultimately, it's crap.
Even David Blaine admits there is nothing to it, although he could make you swear he can read minds.
Get a life and move on.
Live here and now.
Leave the world a better place.
What more do you want?

Good question - but alas you have no evidence of life after death - there is no reputable or anything close to proof. There are interesting phenomen which are still subject top theory - but the commen trait is that they are sporadic and heavily influence by cultural background suggesting they are the results of conscious rather than post-life experience.

Your website is not a proof of afterlife and it is wrong to suggest it is.

By the way never trust a website that spent more on its flash logo than its content

It is a misfiring in the mind that causes such delusions. Experiences do not make for a reality. Walk through a mental institution and see just how many people will tell you how real their particular fantasy is because they felt it so strongly. If the mind imagines a life after death it is still imaginary. Our minds do not create reality.

The Road to Everlasting Life—Have You Found It?
ALMIGHTY GOD is the Master of the universe. Our lives, now and in the future, depend on him. He has the power to reward and the power to punish. He has the power to give life and the power to take life. If we have his approval, we will do well; if we do not have his approval, it will go badly for us. How important it is that our worship be acceptable to him!
People worship in many ways. If religion is like a road, do all religious roads have God’s approval? No, they do not. Jesus, God’s prophet, showed that there are only two roads. He said: “Broad and spacious is the road leading off into destruction, and many are the ones going in through it; whereas narrow is the gate and cramped the road leading off into life, and few are the ones finding it.”—Matthew 7:13, 14.
There are only two types of religion: one that leads to life and one that leads to destruction. The purpose of this brochure is to help you find the road that leads to everlasting life.

Everyone believes in something, i beleieve in life after death but i also feel that i can't force my opinion on others. This is one of the virtues of being alive Free will, to live and choose as i wish by my own moral standards.

lifetime, universe, time frame, spectrum and dimension are the basic classes of what people think are realms of existence. personally think there are numberless amounts of each in existence however because each living being is limited to the one in which they are existing in they can't see into the others which exist perhaps in the exact place we exist in. there have been some who speculate there are visitors from other planes of existence as well as from outer space.

You're totally right. There is a lot of reputable scientific research on the subject which skeptics reject before they examine. Hardly a scientific attitude. Makes me think that for them, "no life after death" is a matter of faith...
