Men - are they intimidated by intelligent women?

Question

Ok just wondering - are ye? Coz like,Id prefer to ask kinda thought provoking questions opposed to should I wear panties kinda questions - and I find SOME (please note I am NOT implying everyone) answers quite degrading and kinda cutting.
Like do guys actually go for women with a brain - or do ye prefer dumbos that have an IQ of 5??

I think you already know the answer to this; you've already realized that some, but not all, guys prefer intelligent questions to the "should I wear panties" type.
You seem like the intelligent type yourself; I'm surprised that you would actually generalize all guys together. It's just as wrong to assume that all guys want the same thing as it would be for guys to assume that all women are dumbos with an IQ of 5.
Also, let's face it, even though there are guys out there who prefer the dumbos, it doesn't mean they are intimidated by intelligent women. There are guys who either don't want to deal with someone smart more out of sheer laziness, or ones who just have more in common with the "dumbos." Neither necessarily indicate intimidation.

Yes and not I think it what mood they are in intelligent women know what they want. they have strength character and they need very little support to make the hard choices in life. Some men believe that they want a woman who is intelligent, but when they find them the discover that these women are also strong willed, and if the guy isn't secure within himself the this can throw him off, the men Tarzan you Jane situation falls apart. Finding a man who is strong enough to control a strong will, independent self sufficient woman is a formidable thing, especially when he has to do it without stifling and holding her back force fully.

so 9 times out of 10 they prefer the dumb ones because they are less work.

You know what? I think they are! Perhaps that's what is really behind this man who keeps tormenting me on here every which way he can. You see, it wasn't bad enough he had to clone my profile for the purpose of posting lewd, sexual questions while simultaneously harassing me via email, he had to continue by "trolling" me (stalking a person in cyberspace to give insulting answers or comments) and reporting every question and answer I ever gave (causing me to have a couple removed by Customer Care). But come to think of it, perhaps what got this whole thing rolling in the first place was that not only did he disagree strongly with my opinion in a question, his answer to it being the start of all this mess, but he probably hated the fact that I had more points than he did. And now that the account he had at that time has been suspended, as well as another one with the same name & Avatar he'd worked up to Level 2 in a couple days, he REALLY hates me because I just reached Level 4, which is where his first account ALMOST was when it got suspended! So he's trying to bully me off of here every which way he can in hopes that I will get suspended, never come back (which I wouldn't), and leave this forum to the likes of him and those dirty-mouthed guys posting questions regarding unnatural sex acts and bodily functions. You see, from my boyfriend Cyrus I've learned how much it bothers a guy to be hundreds of points behind his girlfriend despite having started just a day later, so perhaps the root of the problems I'm having with this male user is his feeling of incompetency in comparison to a pitiful little GIRL (yes, I'm 23, but my emotional maturity is below 13) who is probably half his age!

It depends on the up bringing of the man. Some men like my ex-roommate like a woman for cleaning and cooking. Looks and intelligence are not prime factors for these types of men that can't even do their own laundry. Some men want women strictly for sex and the dumber they are the better. But I think the majority of men would like a woman they can relate to and one that is physically an equal. As for myself I would want one that is smart and independent. She wouldn't have to be wealthy just a good hard worker that has a good idea of what she can get done in one day. Being intelligent means that you know what your mates expectations are and it also means being smart enough to allow your self some breathing room.

I love intelligence in a woman and I think most guys do.

What I don't like however is an overly aggresive person who is going to use their intelligence to inflict opinions, choices, aggression etc and always be right.

The most intelligent people are not always right !!! And even when they are it works to be right gracefully.

Some people who are intelligent (include those with medium intelligence !! :) may say that this or that person can't cope with me because I'm too intelligent. I suspect this is almost never true, its probably because the so called intelligent one was not using their intelligence to responsibly contribute and converse in the conversation.

So to conclude if a person states that they could not deal with someone as that someone does not like intelligent people, it is probably an excuse. I would therefore doubt the persons capability to be responsible.

Well, to be honest, it really depends on the guy. If its a shallow guy that only cares about getting in your bed, then he is going to want a low IQ kind of girl. If its a guy who is sincere and wants a serious relationship, then the majority of those guys would not be intimidated by a womans brains. The girl I fell in love with is WAY smarter then me. lol.

I go for an intelligent women, but they are so rare. Some just act dumb to be cute and means they can get away with loads.

You have to be able to actually have a conversation with your g/f.

Saying that I know lots of guys that are pretty thick but hey they are nice people, just a few sandwichs short of a picnic!!!

I so agree with you that some people give stupid answers, and some men are intimidated by smart woman,in my opinion (being a smart girl) I find men are not all they seem to be when you put their brains to shame, especially when it's done in front of their friends. Don't feel alone out there girl.

Generally men find it easier to deal with a woman of his intellectual level. Apart from those who are indeed intimidated by an intelligent female, they just don't understand you. You have to speak the language they understand to have adequite communication with them, given the differences of the opposite sexes. Sorry girl, it's the way it works.
