Doesn't this weaken the appeal of Christianity if God will not forgive a person who blasphemed the Holy Spirit?

God created us with free will; not as mindless robots programmed to obey the maker's every command.

As for blasphemy against the Holy Spirit; it is the Holy Spirit which convicts us of our sin - not in the legal sense but in the sense that he makes us aware of our own failings.

Being aware of our own sin we can do something about it - repent and ask for God's forgiveness through Jesus.

I think there is much confusion over this unforgiveable sin and about what blasphemy of the Holy Spirit means. It isn't simply saying bad things about the Holy Spirit; it is about completely rejecting him - so that you are ignoring his prompting and are not repenting and asking for God's forgiveness.

If you know you have done wrong and can ask God for forgiveness then it isn't too late - after all, the only way you know you have done wrong is because the Holy Spirit is telling you this.

God is Love. in Love there is godliness. In every act of Love there too is God. An Act of Love is an act through the power of the Holy Spirit. (see... Trinity,etc..) Anything that is against the spirit of love is an act against God, ie., the creator. Any creation that cannot accept the spirit of the creator cannot exist together with him.

The power to love is inherent in all life forms, though manifest in many ways. The power to hate, to not forgive, to cause pain for fun and gain, to destroy,... is only given to man. You cannot have perfection if anything is lacking. Man is given perfection. The core of that is Love.

With perfection comes responsibility (response + ability). If I cannot be responsible I don't deserve my perfection.
