Recently a guy tried to mug me. He pulled a ruger .357 on me and I called him out on it. I yelled at him to shoot me. I really didn't care if he had shot me or not. When he did nothing for three or four seconds I took a step forward and put the gun right to my own forehead and yelled at him to f***in' shoot me. He didn't have the stomach for it I guess. I think I just realized I dont have much to live for.

If he is under 30 or over 30 is irrelevant, depression attacks all ages not just a specific age group.

You either have alot of guts, or there is something there subconsciously that is bothering you. If you do believe you may have depression please seek some sort of help. I can understand where you are coming from.

I would say that your actions were used to intimidate the assailant which is common for those thugs. When you pressure them to do it, they back out. But it seems as though this wasn't really it in your case. I think it is a mental issue. Every one has something to live for. Some more than others. Why do you look on your life this way? I am not a psychiatrist but i think maybe you should talk to one if you already are not. Just to sort out your problems. This question is the only one that has really touched me like this. Furthermore, though this nucklehead backed off, you may not be so lucky if it happens again. He just may pull the trigger. Be careful. Think of all the ppl you have in your life now. Would they care if you were gone? How would your death affect them?

Are you under 30? Most young people feel invincible (wrongly) and take ridiculous risks with their lives because their brains have not yet fully matured and their reasoning skills are faulty.

If you are over 30, you may be suffering from depression.
