To be an American, he needs to be born on American soil. His birth certificate (from any hospital in the U.S.) will prove that he's an American. After you return to Europe, you can contact the American embassy or consulate to find out about getting an American passport for him if you plan to visit the U.S. with him in the future. But his birth certificate will be sufficient to prove he is an American.

From what i know of so far. The baby has to be born within the United States, on U.S. soil. When he is born on U.S. soil he automaticlly becomes a citizen of the U.S. . Also the document that provides his/her citezenship would be the certificate of live birth ie. birth certificate. Wich will show the baby was born on U.S. soil. You might be able to find more info here http://www.state.gov/ .

If he's born on U.S. soil, he will be a U.S. Citizen. The hospital will file his/her birth certificate with the county the child is born in. You can then get a copy of the birth certificate from the county.

I and my fellow Americans would prefer if you did not do this.

Your child would be what is called an ANCHOR BABY.

If you are going to use this child as a tool to become legal in the U.S. this is called cheating and trying to get around immigration laws. Please do not do this.
