A consumer act is a piece of legislation that addresses the concerns of the consumer for the protection and/or safety of the consumer.

You need to be more specific with your question. There are many pieces of legislation across the county that have the words "Consumer" and "Act" in the title. For example, the bankruptcy reform law that was passed last year was called the Bankruptcy Abuse Prevention and Consumer Protection Act of 2005. Personally, I don't see how it "protects" consumers but it does say Consumer Act.
