Try taking Melatonin. Melatonin supplements can be an effective and side-effect-free sleep aid for adults suffering from insomnia. Melatonin should be taken 1-2 hours before bedtime. This schedule is designed to release the added hormone at the same time that natural production peaks. When you awaken after melatonin-assisted sleep, you should feel refreshed - not tired or groggy. I use this often. I am a person that goes to bed at 8pm and am up between 3:30 & 4am. I am naturally an early riser but felt that I wasn't getting quality sleep and would crash by the afternoon. With Melatonin I my sleep quality has improved. You can purchase it at Wal-mart very inexpensive. Only take 1 tab, that's all you need. Sweet dreams!

many ways to develop a better sleep pattern!

what are you eating before you go to bed? You should not eat anything heavy 3-4 hours before you go to sleep. That way your body can actually rest, vs. working on digesting your food while you try to sleep.

what are your habits before you go to bed? Are you watching a scary movie? or some kind of bedtime story to help make you fall asleep? Do something restfull so that your mind starts to relax and can sleep a full night!

Are you stressed? work related, relationship related? If so, gotta get rid of that stress before you go to bed. work it off physically or work it out mentally so that you can get better sleep.

I've have this same problem and its always hard to do the above, one night I'm good, the next night, my mind is racing for some reason...... Good luck and better sleep!

Do you wake up when you have to go somewhere? Or is it all the time, even weekends? Try going to bed a little later and maybe you will be more tired and will sleep longer. I've started sleeping 7 hrs. no matter when I go to sleep. I just automatically wake up 7 hrs. later. Good Luck!

The place, ventilation, posture of normal sleeping place may not be giving adequate deep sleep. Also take lesser quantity of easily digestible light dinner about 2 hours before sleep time.
All this would improve the quality of sleep, and slowly fine tuning to suit can be done.
