Lotion and lube just feels better. It allows your hand to slide up and down easier with out causing friction to the penis that makes it sore. Your hand also feels a bit more like the inside of a vagina when it's full of lotion. Nope, I don't have a penis.....but I have a hand and lotion/lube...........

If you are circumscised like me then it helps to avoid soreness if you use a bit of lube. KY liquid is good. If you are uncircumscised you already have some natural moisture under your man-hood so more lube probably isn't needed.
