The pope was a German, living in Germany during the time of Hitler. He was of the age to join the Hitler Jugend (like scouts). He joined. It was not optional. All boys of elligible age were members of the Hitler Jugend. Is that what you mean by he supported the Nazis?

The Pope is not and never has been a Nazi. He unfortunately was born and grew up in a country ruled by the Nazi party.

He was forced to join the Hitler Youth and drafted into the Nazi German Army.

Just hope and pray that you do not have to make a decision while you are a teenager to be executed or live and fight for a government in which you do not believe.

With love in Christ.

A previous Pope did, not the current one. In fact, Vatican II under Pope John XXIII in the 1960s was, among other things, a re-examination of the Catholic Church's attitudes towards Jews. Many hateful things about Jews (such as praying to "be saved from the perfidious Jew") were taken out of the liturgy and theology at that time. Religions evolve, people change.

Also, I don't think you can call Pope Benedict a Nazi just because he was in the Hitler Youth. All young people were required to join. It was a lot like Boy Scouts, with camping, hiking, etc. and a lot of young people saw it that way, as a social bonding group to belong to for fun and adventure. Yes, there was propaganda -- as with all orgs, good or bad. But I don't think a person should not be judged by what he or she belonged to as a teenager. They should be judged by their actions now.

This is well documented -- why don't you do an internet search.

He claims that he never supported the Nazis -- but was forced to join the Youth Movement. Lots of Germans boys were.

He was a child in Hitler's youth program. Many children were placed in this program if they fit the ideal look for the perfect aryan according to Hitler. It was not a choice given to the youths. They were taken and placed there where they were to be indoctrinated with the ideals Hitler espoused. Let it be stressed that none of the children were given a choice. I am not Catholic and do not think one is necessary for religion however, He was only quoting a 14th century argument and not giving his opinion. I also think it noteworthy that the Muslims turned right around and proved him correct. Even after he apologized for hurting anyone's feelings, they refused to acccept it.

Back then, you had a choice.
Support the nazi movement, or go to a detention camp.

Would anyone guess which ones of christian faith as a group, chose not to support the regime?
They chose the camp and death over wickedness.
They chose to remain peaceful rather than to war.
They chose the Kingdom of God over the kingdom of the nazis.

Guess who they are. The only ones as a christian religion.

No, he did not support Nazi belief.

Crap that people used to pull is no longer tolerated.

Even the kids of to-day will tell, and show you that.

Does it make you righteous if you wronged others?
Does it makes you to heaven if other think you're perfect?
Does it makes your religion more a peaceful, tolerant than others?
will your peaceful religion really takes you to blue heaven?

you're all like little children that loves to be cuddled, praised, admired, adored but not otherwise

selfish, arrogant and paranoic blind followers and believers that thinks all others will go to hell except you and your lot

following jesus don't make one a true christian
following mohamed don't make one a true muslim
being a christian or muslim does'nt guarantee one to heaven
if your true intention being religious is to be in heaven-forget it
you're far far away from home man

Christian, muslims and jews will all go to heaven

He was a member of the Hitler Youth. However, so were a lot of misguided young lads at that time. It was just the way it was in his country unfortunately. "Tomorrow Belongs To Me" is the chilling song that sums it up in Cabarat.
