Honestly it does have something to do with the urge to urinate. while asleep our bodies are designed to grab ourselves to keep from urinating which stimulates the penis sometimes dry humping the bed to help keep the erection up. because although it isn't impossible to urinate while erect it is very hard to do and being erect will calm the urge to pee a lot.

Erections are caused by blood flowing quickly into your penis....believe it or not, boys in puberty expereince 5-7 erections each night. Most just don't wake you up.........

It has something to do with waking up and blood rushing to the vessels which causes an erection
