You should have taken out the battery quickly, and dry it off. Try this place it on the dash of your car today with the windows up in the sun and it will dry out and might work. It did for me. Before buying another phone do this first.

I did the very exact thing. The toilet.
I removed the battery, the sim chip, and blew it on warm with the hairdryer. Yours is probably not completely dry. You don't want it to get too warm or hot. That will cause more damage.
Let it air dry for a couple days and try it again. If it doesn't work still, do as lifeoftheparty did. It's not honest but can you even imagine how much cell companies rake it and how cheaply made that cell phone is?

Dry out the inside if possible and if it still doesn't work again ask if they are willing to replace a defective cell phone. If they open it up and find it is dry, they might not know about the water. Don't be especially eager to tell them it dropped in the water because they might be more inclined to make you pay for a replacement.

Cell Phones do not respond well in Water!
Mine dropped in a Fish Tank!(Idiot!)
Contacted my Service Provider and arranged a Replacement on the Insurance Service I Purchased.
It took 24 Hrs for the Replacement to arrive, by that time the original Handset started working fine again! (NOKIA 6230)
But still had it replaced

That happened to a friend of mine--she dropped hers in a toilet. Anyway. It did eventually dry out, but it took some time. If you live in a humid area, it may even be longer for you (we live in Arizona). Might want to check into getting a new phone in the meantime, if that is possible.

yeah- open it all up- get the bits to drip down on a towel. don't dry harshly. Let the water run off on the towel- put the phone on the heater for an hour or so- should be no problem

when that happened to me....i took it apart and placed the battery on the dash of my car (and the phone too) and cranked the heater. i got the phone to work...but not very well. i told the cell phone people the phone was a piece of garbage and they gave me a new one free! they test phones to see if they got wet....that's why i dried mine out completly!

If none of the circuits inside have burnt, then there is a chance it might work if its dried real well.
