Observed at first hand... Aussies spend too much time bragging about how much they can drink to ever get down to proving it. (and their beer is like water).
I once entered a contest beyween three Brits and seven Germans, We walked at least 100 yards away from the pub before one of us fell over (it was icy), the germans - we left them lying in the pub.
We turned up for work next day, they went home to bed.
If you are up for a challenge and don't mind losing, try out drinking a Scowegian - Swede, Dane, etc.

I am English and live in Germany, and boy these guys can drink! The English are lightweights by comparison, and it amuses me greatly when I go home. So I would go with the Germans, regardless of the drink. The Aussies probably aren't far behind though.
The main problem the Brits have is that it isn't as socially acceptable to have drink as it is in Germany or Australia.

Don't know about the Aussies or Germans but I once tried to keep up with my English coworkers at an after work drinking 'adventure' and have no idea how I got home but had a horrible hangover the next day...

The Poles or the Slovaks would win any drinking contest hands down - I have never ever met a nation like them who drink so much. But from the 3 mentioned above I'd say the English would win if it was wine and the Germans on the beer. My favourite tipple is vodka

If it's a beer-drinking contest - it's a 3-way duel to the death! Spirits would go the the English, and wine would go to the Germans. Sorry but I think the Aussies would be out-gunned there.

The English, Aussies don't drink from real sized cans. The Germans wouldn't enter such a fun event

The English would drink the most, but be the most violent and sick. The Aussies would come close second and be moderately happy, and sick. The Germans would come a very close third and still be discussing Politics, moustaches and Natural History.

The English and there is no doubt about that. Aussies don't even drink pints in their own country.
Had a similar debate a couple months ago with my mates. Irish would come second. Never drunk with the Polish, but would imagine they could outdrink most countries.

And wot about the kiwis.............. The Aussis just can't match us. But given the options provided I'd have to say the Germans. No way would I vote for the Aussis!
