I think it's wrong, but I also think that 15-20 years down the road these girls will look at their children and know they wouldn't change a thing for the world. I wish the government would start some kind of a school daycare for these girls. Maybe more of them would stay in school that way. People think just because we do something like this to help that we're condoning their behavior. Kind of like making condoms available in school. If people would quit being so staunchy and give in on that then maybe the girls having babies issue wouldn't be an issue at all.

I think that it is incredibly stupid and extremely selfish.
Lord only knows why, but kids seem to think that it's cool these days to be a teenage mother and I just can't understand it.

Someone I used to be friends with was a teenage mother, she fell pregnant at 15, seemed so excited she was having a baby, till the baby arrived. She lost interest very quickly and wanted to go outand do the regular things that kids do. Needless to say 5 years later her son is still ignored and neglected by her, and guardianship of this precious little boy was signed over to the maternal grandmother.

Kids can't raise kids, no exceptions. Some may do a better job than others, but in the end how much can a child offer an infant?

It really is scary the amount of girls who 'let themselves go'. When i was younger i always maintained as long as i hadnt reached my goal of 500 pairs of shoes, i had no business getting pregnant. Im 20 now and although i'm not at all ready, i suspect i actually AM pregnant. Now that the reality faces me, i'm terrified. My boyfriend and i had condoms and chose not to use them, surprisingly enough, i felt ok with it. Am i worried i might get sick? maybe but if i am infact pregnant - i will definately keep the baby - i have 2 jobs and graduate in march 2007 for a biotechnology diploma. He also works.

My point really is that girls SHOULD wait, but i also know how the heat of the moment feels and mind you - bears a heavy responsibility in the same respect.

That's not good healthwise, legally and morally. Even if you forget all those things you have to take practical considerations as well. If you do all those things that adults do at early stage what is the fun about marriage and adulthood life.!!!You won't get proper education either and nobody will care you when you are an adult. You will lose self respect and self esteem.

SO FOR PRACTICAL SAKE AVOID GETTING PREGNANT EARLY. BECAUSE YOU HAVE TO ENJOY THE ADULTHOOD DREAMS NOW AND THEN LATER THE REAL LIFE

i am a 37 year old male. i wish i had a child.

it depends on the individual and their circumstances. i am oddly jealous of people that squeeze children out like pups with complete disregard for the enormity / consequences.

if a young person and their child can get the right support as individuals and as a family it is probably a good thing.

at my age, i would be happy and able (financially / emotionally) to be responsible for my partner's daughter's child (she is now 16) if she (let's say for this monologue, inappropriately) had one.

even if her relationship did not work out (in theory it would be unlikely at that age for a relationship to last) i think she would be luckier / happier as an older person (say my age, 37) that she had a child than if she had not.

why do you ask? are you passing a moral judgement or are you interested in having a child at a young age?

I am against it for several reasons: 1..To be a mother you need to grow up yourself first, only then can you offer your child a mature outlook on life. 2 Before becoming a mother I think you should be financially secure to offer your child a stable upbringing. 3 The relationship you are in needs to be a mature one that will last (hopefully) forever, a child needs both parents and preferably together in a loving, well rounded relationship.

It does work out for some. But for the most part it's a problem that needs to be fixed by better parenting.

I had my first son at 15.

I don't see a reason to be against it. I mean society as a whole continues to require more and more adult behaviour from teens, so it is only right that they should be given the adult rewards as well, and what could be more rewarding than parenthood?

not advisable, having a child changes your life, and yes any of us with children would not change it for the world but young girls need to live a bit of their own lives before getting pregnant.

Stupidity. Ignorance. Lack of education. Those girls are throwing away their youth... besides, most often they're not even mature enough to raise a child. Use condoms! It's not a sin!
