the only thing dangerous about a taliban soldier is the gun they are holding ,if you had a taliban and a sas soldier fighting man on man theres no contest ,the sas is is the most elite fighting force in the world ,we taught the bloody american specail forces where they were going wrong.

This not an adaquate comparison. The SAS is a paramilitary group. They are skilled and highly trained to deal with a variety of situations relating to specialized military functions. Terrorist do not receive this level or quality of training. The methods of terrorists are to attack in a hit and run fashion most often against defenseless civilians. Terrorists are not looking for anything related to a fair fight. They seek to attack where there is the least resistance. In short, one member of the SAS is worth at least 100 terrorists.

Additional Info: For thos who keep posting that the Taliban defeated the Russians this is just and F.Y.I.. The Taliban did not defeat the Russians. This is because the Taliban never fought the Russians. The Muja Hadeen fought the Russians in the late 70's and early 80's. They were supported by the United States government with weapons. While some of the the members of the Muja Hadeen may have joined the Taliban they are not the same group. The Taliban was the ruling force in Afghanistan following the Soviet occupation of that country.

Firstly you haven't asked a dumb question....

The SAS yes are trained and backed by the government, and as the other guy mentioned the Taliban are backed by rejects and other "unknown" officials.

But the taliaban did take over the Russians before.

The SAS live in tents and the Taliban live in rough folage,caves.

In my opinion they are the same, But because im british i'll say the SAS are better trained and skillfull. BUT You just can't say the Taliban are nothing because their not.

the SAS are harder, because the Taliban was trained and funded by the CIA back in the 80's when the Russian's where trying to take over Afghanistan. And everyone knows that the US is crap at warfare

The SAS is the toughest military group/institution in the world. SBS comes close but the Taliban - come on, they are a bunch of Terrorist trained by military rejects and extreemists.

The Taliban maybe good at hiding in caves in Afghanistan but our SAS can adapt to any environment.

With Due Respect to Fighting Genius of the S.A.S -
You have to consider the Effect the Taliban had on the Russian Army!

They Murdered Thousands of Russian Soldiers !!
Therefore Forcing the Mighty Russian Army out of Afghanistan!!

Most of the Killing was done in a NONE BATTLEGROUND/WARFARE WAY!!
i.e. Land Mines, Ambushes,Hide & Seek and Dirty Fighting!!

Modern Day Fighting Forces need to Adapt their Rules of Engagement to even try and tackle this new way of Killing and Dieing!
And regain a level Field against these Fanatics!

I foresee More U.S and British Military fatalities-God Bless The Troops and Special Forces doing this Awful Job!
