I have read a lot of insults regarding my Catholic religion, and I do admit that there were mistakes made, but these critics do not realize the good majority it has accomplished. The martyrs who sacrifice their lives for other to live, if it wasn’t for Catholicism western civilization would have not existed. (Not even the Protestants) Europe would have been an Islamic continent if it weren’t for Catholicism. (It’s a fact). Bible thumping pilgrims who sailed to the New World would have been Islamic. Western nations that colonized South America and Asia as well would have been affected, and you could kiss your freedom goodbye since there wouldn’t have been a separation of religion and government. People are so comfortable now these days that they forget to look back at their roots. It’s funny how the liberals and the seculars keep on complaining about religion not thinking where they owe their culture from.

You find religion silly and laughable - this defines you, only you.

Ask yourself why you care so much what others are up to - live and let live instead of judging yourself through others. Deal with your own anger and you'll find life peaceful.

PS Im not religious, just in case you think this came from a defensive standpoint.

People can't have constructive criticism without all the facts. Most are pro Bible or pro science. Neither have considered the others beliefs. For that to happen, the Bible should be studied along with science. Only then can one discredit the other. I however, believe in both. They compliment each other.

Because religions are based on dogmas rather than a realization of divine truths. Few people laugh at Buddhism and it is the one belief system that isn't trying to ram views and doctrines down people's throats.

in the past century or so people have been increasingly using religion as an excuse to commit heinous crimes.

ex. bin laden
bombing of abotion clinics
nazis and hitler

there are tons more than this. and my examples are not the put down a certain religion. i am aware that most followers of islam, christianity, etc are very peaceful.

I disagree

Many of those who are non-believers have become silly and laughable as you say, as well as abusive toward Christians.

They are losing so much and have no idea what is in store for them.

Because we have advanced much since the time we thought lightning was forged by gods in volcanos.

Actually in some places it is quite deadly. While we envoke our freedom to chat with others, others are forced by the sword to accept beliefs.
