No the scientists have proved it is older.
When God said in Genesis the world was created in six days, he didn`t say that a day was 24 hours. A day to God may have been a thousand years.
After all God didn`t create the sun and moon till the fourth day so his days would not be governed by the 24 hour night and day we have.

Yes, I'm not sure how old it is but I do believe in creationism. I don't think at the time of creation that time is a major factor.
Evolutionists need the Earth to be millions of years old in order tfor the fish with feet thing to work for them. The age of the earth isn't a particular concern to believers. Carbon dating has been proven to be shaky at best and inaccurate. Rock from Mount St Helen was tested and we were told it was a million years old when in fact it was a year old at the time. So, that method is questionable.
The Bible isn't used as a tool for science but these things have been written down and passed from generation to generation. Actually one of the few written records available. In order for evolution to work, evolutionist have to discredit religion and creationism at every turn, as you are doing here. Yet, Evolution is and will always be a theory, or an idea and will never be proven as factual because it can't be tested nor has it been witnessed.
Let me ask you this. How can you believe a statement like "Man first appeared about x BC (date is not important)"...How do species "appear"? I never understood that! How do they know when the Stegosaurus "appeared"? Is that how Science explains things?

Genesis 1:1 says that in the BEGINNING God created the heavens and the earth and the earth was formless and void.
I think that the planet is older than 7000 years. the Bible only says that in the beginning he created it. the beginning of what? who knows! I think that God created the universe, then He created life. this might be a bad parallel but you wouldn't bring animals to a zoo that is being built. you first build the zoo, then you bring the animals who will live there. As a side note the word "was" can also be translated as "became." God doesn't create any thing that is formless and void but He will bring something to that state in order to make it new. "became" also explains dinosaurs. If the world is only 7000 years old why do we have dinosaur bones that are millions of years old? because the world became formless and void. God must have wiped them out. I could keep on going, but I don't even have the attention span to read excessively long answers. let me know if you want more.

I am a Christian and NO I do not beleive that. I think its been prooven Scientificly that its alot older, how ever The Biblical Calender could still use some studying...God may have had many ancient civilizations Prior to Adam and Eve. The neandrathauls , Dinosours, Ice Age, etc. may have been pre-Eden. As a Christian it aint all that seriouse bro..Its the end times that are all being fufilled in the Bible..I could care less what came 1st the chicken or the egg. They both taste good to me...meaning I am the bigger picture just as God and Revelations is in the Bible. Exodus: Decoded on the History Channel was just founded as FACT. Scientist have also found sadom and Gamora..Many more discoverys supporting the bible are being uncoverd..look in to that if you wish..Peace.

If the christians really believe this then they must question their faith from the beginning. The truth is no-one really knows for sure how old the world is, but it is certainly not only a few thousand years old - thats absolutely ridiculous. Besides, if you take the opposite perspective of evolution, then we are talking of a few million years !!!! People may have started writing & documenting stuff a few thousand years ago (ie: the age of the bible), but that doesnt tell us anything about the age of mother earth !!!

The world is not just some thousands years old
But the Bible is also not only interllectaully written but also spiritually and symbolically, and this is where athiest and evolutionists miss the direction because they try to analyze a spiritual book without understanding the spirit
Beteween the above lines you can figure out how old the world is only if the HOLY SPIRIT guides you

No. I believe that it is as old as science says it is. There are gaps in the genealogy of the Bible, and we do not know how long Adam and Eve spent in the Garden of Eden. I do not believe that the universe was created in six literal 24-hour days, although God is capable of doing this. The important thing to understand about the Creation account is the order in which the universe and everything in it was created, and the fact that all members of the Trinity were present at its creation. The Father was there, the Holy Spirit was there and Jesus Christ was there. The Spirit moved upon the face of the waters. God (the Father) said let there be Light (Jesus Christ), and there was light (Jesus went forth to create). God put everything in place before he created man on the sixth day. God is orderly, not chaotic.

I think the great dinosaurs (such as the t-rex) were here perhaps millions of years before man came on the scene. The Bible supplies no proof of this, but there are ways of understanding the creation narrative that permit this view. Here's one of them:
The original creation is described in Gen. 1:1. The six days described in subsequent verses may have taken place millions or even billions of years after the original creation. In other words, God made the universe billions of years ago. He put all kinds of creatures, including dinosaurs, on this planet. The earth, at that time and for millennia to follow, was "without form and void"---i.e., not fit to serve as a habitat for mankind. So, at some point, perhaps millions of years after a comet hit the earth, destroying the dinosaurs and filling the atmosphere with debris and causing unparalleled catastrophic events such as massive tsunamis and earthquakes and flooding of huge land masses, God began clearing away the debris from the atmosphere allowing sunlight to pass through---"Let there be light." He caused further atmospheric changes---"Thus God made the firmament." He caused the submerged land to rise up out of the waters, thus forming the oceans and the great land masses---"Let the waters...be gathered together into one place, and let the dry land appear." And on it goes. On the sixth day, He made man in His image and after His likeness and gave him dominion over all the earth and its many creatures.

I believe that the Garden of Eden was created around 4000BC, but there was others that were in the process of evolving before then. Remember when Cain was banished he was afraid of the others, who?
God told Adam before man lived on the earth one day (1000yrs) he would flood it, science shows the world did flood around 3000 - 2500BC.
They determined this because there was salt deposits in the Great Pyramid, which was built by Seth the son of Adam before the flood.
God also told Adam that he and everyone else would return to the Garden in five and one half days, 5,500 years. We are close to that time now.
If you could do some research and some how find out the exact day Adam was kicked out of the Garden of Eden and add 5,500 to it you know when the end of things as you know it will happen.
