The "conflict" in Afghanistan will bring about a draw. there is not any decision consequence even with the same old propaganda on the two aspects of the Atlantic. James Jones - ex suitable Commander NATO mentioned some weeks in the past "Make no mistake, we are no longer triumphing in Afghanistan" usual perception is that the Afghan all of us is totally at the back of our troops . actual they could no longer supply a rats @rse and are greater desirable than waiting to rejoice in the line whilst a soldier is going down (Kandahar September 2006) The Taliban are nevertheless able to hitting a NATO camp from interior a mile (Camp Bastion Christmas Day 2007) even with Nato having been there for 7 years. Tha Taliban have perfected ambush approaches (Helmand December 2007), using snipers (Helmand August 2007) and IED's to take out below secure automobiles and troops (Kandahar 11th and nineteenth April 2008) maximum folk of Taliban fighters are remote places born and grant an endless source of cannon fodder. in assessment is the falling form of volunteers to HM defense force coupled with an ever increasing resignation value between those at present serving.

yes NATO used to fund them, provide them with weapons in their fight against the Russian occupation. Back then, there was no Taliban however, they were armed militias called Al Mujahdeen. Taliban movment was formed years later after they defeated the U.S.S.R.
Taliban movment is only considered a terrorist organization by the U.S. I am not trying to defend their cause, but I am trying to put matters into perspective simply because the media bias is huge.
Taliban are not interested in attacking U.S nor any European interests. They were a ble to seize rule of Afghanistan after a long struggle with other groups. Taliban can however be blame for sympathizing with Al Qaeda, they are however 2 seperate groups and must not be viewed as the same.
Taliban did harbour Al Qaeda which is viewed as the only organization that can defend them from the U.S. U.S policies aggrevated the situation when they invaded Afghanistan after 9/11 and now Taliban has aligned with Al Qaeda.
Russia is not involved, they could not care less, simply because their agenda has changed after the disintegration of the Soviet Union. This is not their war and they are more focused on fixing their economy.
Why can't they be defeated?
It is not a convensional war where you know where your enemy is and all you need to do is attack it.
Taliban are also well trained and equipped and they are motivated.

During the battle of Tora Bora, the Taliban fled to Pakistan. I don't think the Taliban came back. They are in Pakistan recruiting mercenaries to fight in Afganistan. There will always be recruits in Pakistan and 50 here and 20 there could cost NATO billions of dollars a year. Basically the Taliban will plink NATO till it gets too expensive and NATO leaves. Then the real Taliban will come back.

NATO is now a sterile organisation and should be replaced with a mixture of countries who stand by their promises to help other nations when needed.
The British and the Americans have, on a number of occasions asked for help from other NATO countries all to no avail,in consequence there are no other countries really with the guts to fight or,help.
Russia will not help the Taliban due to the fact they are trying to change their own image throughout the world, and they lost enough troops in Afghanistan.

When Russians invaded Afghanistan and destryoed it, leaving about four million as refugees (mostly in Pakistan), they decided to take back their country.
This coincided with the US/European desire to defeat the russians in the "cold war" and they helped the local resistence with weapons. At that time, they were all supposed to be heroes and there was even a Rambo movie dedicated to them.
When the russians were defeated, the US wanted to build an oil pipeline through Afghanistan from the oil rich Caspian fields but the the Taliban government did not agree to all the US demands for it. They also wanted to see the evidence against Bin Laden before handing him over so this time the US decided to destroy the country.
The Afgans are again fighting a foreign invasion but the russians are not going to help the people who defeated them.

Talibans are the enemy of the Russian federation, and helping is hard since Taliban is Osama ally on curruption and Terrorism.
So Russia will rather help NATO than putting his hands on fire that will burn them later through Chechnya and elsewhere
And let it be clear that we will bring down the Talibans and their Ally where ever they are, where ever they may be, whether in the spirit or physical
Thanks

The taliban is largely defeated already. We are mopping up the rest. They are not making any come back. Russians? WTF? No, they have no reason nor any desire too. To your last point? We funded the Afgan resistance, the Muhajdeen. The Tailban came along after the war & became a defacto government. NO, we did not support it..........

Militarily the Taliban are defeated every time they stick their heads out .
Trouble is pinning them down for a decisive fight , so this is going to drag on for awhile .
The politicians need to stuff the R.O.E.'s and let the military off the chain and say . " Sic 'em boys ! " .
