You are seeing a specialist who has studied for at least 8-10 years to learn his art. He is not a plumber or builder (who would charge considerably more and you would not think twice about paying it).
You will definitely find cheaper dentists around, and even cheaper specialists, if you go looking.
If you trust this specialist and are happy with the standard of his work, then it is not too high.
If you don;t trust him, then it may be an idea to get a second opinion and find someone that you trust.
It is like buying a car. You are seeing the absolute best clinician that you can ( a specialist), so it is like you are buying a Bentley and paying a lot for it. Are you paying too much? For a car , YES, but for a bentley, NO.
You could easily find a cheaper car that will do the same job but won;t be to the same standard. It will still get you from A to B though.
Same with dentists. You could easily get a root canal done by your local dentist for a fraction of the cost, with a success rate of anywhere from 50-90%. It will probably seem just as good, and will work just as well, even though it won;t be too the same standard.

That sounds quite expensive. The most expesive one I have heard of, for quite a difficult job, would equate to about 600 pounds (converted from Australian dollars). Shop around a little more. And, as an aside, a root canal is not painful at all.

there are a number of situations that a dentist can no longer tell for constructive if he/she gets into the nerve while removing an old filling. once you have an amalgam (silver) filling, it shows up white (radiopaque) on the xray, blocking off out any achievable decay. So, i might say she's in all probability actual. If she wasn't, she'd in simple terms say you mandatory a root canal and not go away the alternative of no longer wanting it. As for the fee, that sounds quite sensible. At my workplace, a construct up (filling to "construct up" the the the teeth, giving adequate floor to place the crown on) is 188 and the crown in 824. A root canal on a molar is 814. Our workplace is comparable in value to maximum workplaces in our area. If she gets into the nerve and in simple terms fills it and does the crown prep, then you extremely may well be calling her at homestead that evening in excrutiating soreness begging her to do something!!! you're able to be able to desire to constantly get a 2nd opinion in case you do no longer have confidence your dentist. i think of you will possibly get the comparable answer someplace else, although. feels like she's extremely attempting to make it easier to know all the possiblities. while my doctor says there's a threat, seventy 5% of the time, he would not think of it extremely will want the basis canal, he in simple terms desires to conceal his backside in case there is something he can no longer see on the xray! stable luck!

A root canal is very painful and hard to do. They are very expensive. You should check if your health fund offer some sort of coverage, it may not be the full amount but some sort of discount. The price sounds about right...

This sounds about right though slightly on the expensive side. I have had a few of thise done in the last few years and I think often you get what you pay for. If you get a low price I bet the work will be crap. I wouldn't pay more than 550 though.

Yes. These guys take years to train and they are expensive. It would have been cheaper for you to buy toothpaste ans to avoid sweets and cocacola and other fizzy drinks.

I had one tooth done last year. It cost me 640 Pounds. Two visits lasting about 40 minutes each.
