anonymity and privilege. despite the consequences, there is no apparent consequence. it is the same with driving.

i live in a world where the two saddest things that ever happened in people's lives was the recent death of a celebrity who died in a racing car accident (despite having a family and full gravity of the risks) and a man who died playing with dangerous creatures that can potentially kill you (despite having a family an full gravity of the risks).

a respect for the "sanctity of life" is something that is important but comes a poor second to an individual's right to the pursuit of wealth and happiness. while this is the prevailing attitude in society get used to the disrespect.

enjoy.

if you want to change it, jump on the band waggon. start your own political party called the "moral majority" and do all you can to push society to the brink of a complete breakdown. that is, precipitate a crisis. legislate a minimum safe driving speed in school zones of 60km/h. legislate anti-terrorism laws that discriminate particular minority sections of the community, etc.

you get the drift. repeat until dead or until the popular majority "get it" and never want to repeat it (at least for one or two generations).

good luck.

Because it's easier to downgrade a person if they aren't face to face with them and also it allows them to be cowards because 9 chances out of 10 they would be afraid to say something like that to their face.
