Several times.
I felt good, and I did it because I felt that the guy was very sick so I gave him a lift to the hospital. (One example, I did it because I'm a human being!)
I'm not sure if there's spiritual significance, but I hope there's.

Yes, several times I have offered help to strangers without being asked.
Yes, I have, though usually I give them the chance to thank me. That's not because I want to be thanked, but because it is polite to the other person to let them give you the chance. Too many people give help, but want to stay anonymous. It is like they are willing to help, but don't want to get involved. That's rather sterile.
Good, of course. When I help someone, it is because I identify with their situation. I can see myself in their place. Helping them is a way of helping myself.
I gave a shirt to a homeless guy I saw on the street. I helped a family who's car flipped over in a ditch. I helped my late wife through the last few years of dealing with her cancer.
No. I'm an atheist. I don't believe in spirits. I don't do charity out of some hope for vague reward after death. I help others because I'm human and I value others.

i cant see anyone struggle without offering to help ... not everyone wants the help and thats ok ... but at least i asked
i feel good when i help someone ... i used to think i helped people unselfishly but i have came to realise that even in me wishing to feel good ... then it is in a sense selfish ... but again there is nothing wrong with that
actually in terms of spirituality , i used to think that it would help me grow but for reasons above i have came to the conclusion that it may be human nature to want to feel good ... and isnt really about the act of giving
im not sure though .. is it wrong to want to help even if you feel good about doing it ?

Seeker, I commend you for looking for guidance, but isnt bragging about your good deeds looking for reward in this world? I'd rather keep my good deeds private and seek reward for them in the hereafter.
Yes, helping strangers feels good, of course, with or without thanks, and most people do it because they can empathize with the position of that stranger.
