People don't follow their religions even when they think they are.
For example; Christians should give away everything they own, or sell it and give away the profits. How many christians actually do this? Very few. Christians also should never wear clothes of mixed materials - yet many do.
People say that they don't need to follow everything in the bible. I say, if that is true, then a christian who is a murderer has just as much moral standing as a christian who sees a baby breastfeeding.

it all depends on MAN. if he wishes, then he can turn this world into a blissful Heaven or if he wishes then he can make it a living Hellfire. yes i do agree, people are forgetting the true principles of a religion and starting to create Innovations, new rules for themselves. instead od taking negativities of a religion , why dont we take all the good and positive aspects -- and apply it to our daily lives. if we all beleive in -- live and let live policy -- then this world will be a beautiful world.
EDIT : just take a look at the answer of DEVARAJ A -- i feel it is people like these that start it all. for a question like urs there was no need to play the pin-pointing game against any religion or a follower, yet when people do this -- this is the start and trigger for all the events & consequences of the world we see today. people will never realise that its fun to point fingers until the fingers are pointing towards them.

People are obsessed with themselves rather than with God's word. They are impatient and greedy---they want it all now and they want it their way. In the end they will be disappointed and broken, for the things of this world must pass away. We are certainly in the end times. What is going on today is prophesied in the Bible. For those of us who are concerned we need to stay in God's word, minister to those that we can and keep ourselves unspotted from the world. We cannot save everyone, and the truth of the matter is that we will only get a few saved in our lifetimes. No one knows the time of the coming of our Lord except the Father; so, we must trek along in faith. Jesus could return today or it could be another ten thousand years. With the Lord a day is as a thousand years and a thousand years is as a day. We do not understand God's concept of time and space, for he is beyond the state that we live in. Be patient, persevere and pray. Jesus loves you.

If you read the bible you would know this is how it going to be at the end of time, the bible tell us that, people would be turning there back on the truth even long time Christian will wake away from religion

People are following their religion to an extent that suits them. They are mostly blind followers and not true believers. Moreover, the demand on their time is so tight that they do not try to understand the true meaning of their religous literature. The rat race is not going to lead them anywhere soon they will realise that peace lies in beliving the religion and not merely following it.

I'll tell you one thing. Life is one and it's short and people have more important things to do. Take care of the family, work hard, and everything else that will improve their life. Do not forget. One of the main things in bible is FREE WILL, so God or no one else can tell people: You must read the bible.

Most religions make themselves impossible to follow exactly. This makes people feel guilty so they try harder. It is a way of keeping converts in the pews, doling out their cash.
