I know a lot about longevity of insured lives, but population mortality is more of a WHO issue. (Life Insurers focus on lives that take out life insurance. This is a subset of a population as a whole, and consequently due to the affluence of this group, generally live longer than the population as a whole)

Eternal youth is a state of mind and an attitude rather than who lives the longest.

Canadian and Australian populations as a whole live quite a long time. These are first world countries.

Third world and developing countries tend to have the lowest longevity. This can be due to a very high proportion of children dying in childbirth, or very early on in their lives.

Population control is one of the most serious issues for third world and developing countries economic growth. If you start to interfere with the medical side of survival rates of a population, you will end up with a booming population. A booming population does not always result in a booming economy. Indeed it can often have the opposite effect. In other words if more people survive and childbirths do not fall, famine and lack of resources are a real risk. Economic growth needs to match the population growth. In places like China, population controls are an extremely sensible measure in order to bring a third world country into second world status at the fastest sustainable rate possible. It may seem draconian, but in fact it benefits the nation as a whole if everyone plays fair and does not take more than their fair share of the resources.

Ah if we only knew.Living a long time does not necessarily mean one will be youthful. No one has ever succeeded in making a 70 year old look 20 except in fiction ( Rider Haggard's 'SHE' The Picture of Dorian Grey) However, today it is possible by living a sensible life, eating properly, moderation in most things (smoking is very ageing) useful supplements as we get older to look good at 70 or 80. Perhaps the best elixir is a youthful mind and a happy heart.

people live the longest in andorra with both males and females having a life expectancy over 80. apparently emotional health is important a factor as physical health if you want to stay youthful. people who are happily married live longer for example. i don't know what exactly makes andorra special, maybe it's less polluted
