It could be true but as with a lot of other things i dont think we will ever get to the truth

I don’t really buy the conspiracy aspect of the story, and I know that at least some major elements are based on sheer fiction (like the Prior of Scion, etc.), but most of the book is based on plausible – though certainly not proven – historical conjectures. The point I keep making whenever this topic arises is this: From a historical, scientific, and rational view, the whole Bible is riddled with implausible claims and wild conjectures. It is simply NOT a reliable source for historical details. Basically, the Da Vinci Code and the Bible are both mixtures of fact and fiction. There is simply no strong evidence either way concerning whether or not Jesus was married, had children, etc. The conjectures in Dan Brown’s book are not (at this point) provable as historical fact, but neither are most of the stories in the Bible. It is certainly plausible that Jesus was married, but I think it is NOT very plausible that a secret society is hiding any sort of historical record of this. I would not be too shocked if someday some more writings from the period are unearthed and end up showing that Jesus was actually married. But at the present time, there is simply not enough evidence to say much either way.

The Davinci Code is nothing but a work of fiction hoping to capitalise by selling a conspiracy theory. The reason it is so successful is Jesus is perhaps the most controversial person in history. Now as to why it's a fake. 1. The scriptures are often said to be full of errors because of being so old and being translated over and over. In truth there are no works of antiquity that have been better preserved than the old and new testament. And they have more copies than other works which gives them the unique ability to be compared with each other. In the Davinci code it is suggested one of the Popes destroyed the early manuscripts and they were later rewritten. This is kind of amusing as archaeologists have been discovering manuscripts for years and they have only served to confirm the reliability of the early texts. On top of this there are references to Jesus death that exist outside of the gospel accounts. Such as Pliny Secundus (think that's how it was spelled) he was the Governor of Asia about 100 A.D. he spoke of Jesus death by crucifixion under Pontious Pilate(Journals) . This was a few hundred years before the Davinci Code suggests they invented Jesus death and Resurrection story.

I honestly checked this out for someone that also wondered. The answer is no. The so-called 'davinci code' is based on the 'bible code' which if you check out the internet, turned out to be a hoax. The truth is, there is no consistency to the usage and messages given by any of the variations of the so called code. Not only that, but the same method of getting 'hidden prophecies' exists no matter which book you use. Because it is randomly generating words using letters in a text there is a very high statistical probabilty of generating a 'message', but no gaurantee that the message will be any kind of 'real prophecy' so the idea is unworkable in practice and any message generated by it should not be taken seriously.

No, a lot of the symbolism that Dan Brown invokes is modern. When Da Vinci Painted the Last Supper and left the Challice out, that was a part of the Italian Christian Tradition. There was no challice at the table to speak of.

short answer; yes it could be truth, so could the bible - equally, it is no more far fetched than aliens or the Yeti. I wasn't there, i didn't see and as far as i know no one else on this site was there. It is all a matter of blind faith - with the emphasis on blind.

I say if da Vinci code (DVC) makes you happy - believe it, why not? As I said before I can guarentee no-one here can show any 100% evidence of its truth either way. Plus, come judgement day (if there ever is one) what if you are the one who is right for believing DVC and everyone else wrong? Think of the rewards!

Of course its true. How on earth could Jesus not leave behind any descendants, after all he was a "man" in flesh & blood, and unless he was gay then he definitely must have had sex with someone, if only to experiment. Given that those days they was no contraception as such, I truely believe he fathered many children - being a man of great power & popularity, the girls must have been falling at his feet. The church just doesnt want the public to know the truth, thats what I say anyway !!!

Why would some people believe that the Da Vinci Code is true when they do not even believe in what the bible says?

NO. Dan Brown has already stated that the book is a work of
fiction. But if you still don't believe him, go to the local book store
and you will find the "Da Vinci Code" in the fiction section. That
should tell you something.

It could well be true. Even the most staunch atheists do believe there was an individual called Jesus. At that time, being unmarried, would have been a very unusual thing amongst men of that age. It is possible this chap was indeed married to a lady and had a baby with her. Mary was a central figure in his ministry as one of the "sinners" that were saved. Even if you do believe what the church has said about her.

Below is a link to some information Dan Brown used to research his book.

Its a mixture of fact and fiction.

The Council of Nicea in 325AD that decided the doctrines of Christianity did happen. That's history.

It is also true that the Gospels that closely resembled the beliefs of the Pagan Roman emperor Constantine were picked as Authentic and the others declared Apocrypha.

You really should study your own Christian history. It is very interesting, like any topic of history.
