The best place to do this exercise is on a flat bench though any bar set a few feet off the ground will work, e.g. the Smith machine. The underside of a chair or table will work if you are exercising at home.
Lie on your back with your head on the bench end that is away from the bar.
Your legs should be bent like you are in a seated position (hips and knees both bent at 90 degrees) with your toes hooked underneath the bar that is resting on the bench press racks.
You may need to adjust your position on the bench to achieve the proper position: knees and hips both bent 90 degrees.
Hook your toes under the bar and try push the bar lightly up with your feet while crunching. You may want to place some weight on the bar to keep it from moving.
While this action does is activate the hip flexors, it also activates the lower abs isometrically. When you crunch up, you activate the upper abs and the lower abs to some degree.
Add that activation to what you are getting from the isometric contraction you have already put on the lower abs and you will get a greater total contraction.

It is an exercise, used specifically to tone and shape the stomach. You lay on your back with your hands behind your head. And use your stomach muscles to pull you up as far as possible. into a crunch position. You should be holding your stomach muscles tight while doing these.

Crunching is another word for a sit up

It a sit-up except you don't life your head the whole way up to your knees, you only go about half way and do it in quick succession. Up and down about 10 times very quickly for your first time, you can set yourself a pace after that. Be careful though, start slow, you don't want to pull anything!

It's a form of situp where you elevate your legs, like put them up on a chair and then "crunch" your body up to a sitting position.

like sit ups, but u don't pul up as far, only to lift your shoulders and upper back off the ground not all the way up to your knees, so you use your stomach muscles to greater effect

"Crunchies" are sit ups with the legs bent and feet flat on the floor, several variations, like alternate touching right elbow to left knee and then left elbow to right knee.
