dogs are pack animals. there is a pecking order. A dog naturally protects itself and position in this pecking order in two ways.
First be loud have bigger teeth and be hard
or 2 smell like you do, your dog and many other go for option 2 they also go for fox badger sheep anything that smells really

Has it got something to do with wanting to belong to a pack? Maybe the dogs all want to smell the same. Anyway, you've got to admit it's fun!

I think its to do with his hunting instinct. He has taken the other dogs scent to mask his own so he would be able to stalk the other animal or show him he was tribal - now tell me your dog is a toy poodle !!!
I used to have a 'Rotty' that would do the same with deer crap.

how drity can you get?to cure load a coke can with stones so it noisey,then everytime you see it about to roll throw can near dog ,this should stop him in time,if not get the dirty dog put down,your carpets must stink

dogs will roll in as many odd smells as they cas so as to create their own little scent for other dogs to identify them by!
