As for me, I don't like how Muslims deal with such matters... protesting violently and threatening in the air will lead to nothing, and actually they have bad issues in their countries to deal with and they do nothing about it! Being ruled by dictators for years and years for example. But I'm not saying that they should be as leniant as Christians for having Jesus made fun of at South Park.
But on the other hand, you don't find a Muslim belitteling Christianity or Judaism, although all religions have a very dark history... and no history is as dark as the Christian one with all the blood spilled in the name of the cross. So I think it was quite mean of the Pope to add the irrelevant verses in his sleepy speech and I'm sure he knows what he's doing, and one of his assistants said he was surprised of what the Pope said.
I don't know why Muslims don't go in public exposing how violent the Christian history is. I think it has something to do with politics, Christians rule the media.

Muslims criticize Jews and Christians all the time. They criticize the religion, the bible and the history. The religion is corrupt, the bible has been mistranslated and the history is violent. This is a constant theme in Muslim invective screed. The pope criticized violence in the name of religion. The quote supported his speech. The speech was at a university of theology students. It has nothing to do with politics. It is the Muslim media that have sensationalized the issue.

At his weekly audience in St Peters Square on Wednesday, September 22, the pope said, "I wished to explain that not religion and violence but religion and reason go together," he said.

Pope Benedict has invited the ambassadors of Muslim countries at the Vatican, as well as leaders of Italy's own Muslim community, to a meeting on Monday at his summer palace.

The Pope was speaking of theology, and to be honest I've never heard of Muslim theology, it would imply independent thought.

The Muslims are coming off as ignorant cavemen. They are poor, uneducated,a nd have nothing in their life but their religion and their females as slaves. No they may not belittle other religions, but they do preach genocide of western culture (the evangelical Muslims talk only of genocide of Judeo-Christian civilization).

Christian history is violent, and not for all the right reasons, but you cannot discount how much of the abominations in the past was realted to the shifting of control and power due to the evolving information age.

In this day and age there is no excuse for a lack of education and the rights that come with being a self-aware human being and not the slave of a state, especially not a religious state.

I say you can judge a culture by the way they treat their women and children. If a country exploits them and enslaves them as most third world countries do then I say those are not civilized cultures. Remember these people don't love their children like you or I, they train them to be suicide bombers and brainwash them not to have independent thought - ever.

If they can't evolve in this digital age, which they are proving they can't, then there is no dealing with them. They have already demonstrated they cannot be trusted and their word is never honored.

If they take out the Pope I think it may finally give the civilized world a reason to stand up and say, either respect those that are different as a policy or face death at the hands of a peace-seeking world that has been given no choice but to save the planet from destruction of suicidal psychopaths (psychologically speaking that's accurate).

It's Astronauts vs cavemen, and they cavemen are savage barbarians thinking only of their individual selves and the make proxe in the cracker-jack-box they perceive as heaven, and Western culture is shooting for the stars and trying to better the world and mankind for the species.

In the past the Crusades were about religion as a social control mechanism and the spreading of an Empire, more than spreading spritiuality and faith. The spreading of spirituality and faith came with the reformation and invention of the printing press. With that, the free world discovered the liberation of knowledge. The Middle East never did. They still use it as a social control mechanism.

On the one hand you had indpendent thought, and on the other you have a brainwashing program written by cavemen in the dark ages preaching hate and death and destruction and a complete lack of respect for life. This is a culture that is taught everything you know to be right is wrong and everything you know to be wrong is right.

1. Muslims have always belittled Judaism and Christianity (go to any religious chat room and even these boards). 2. Both christianity and islam are very similar - they create a deity projected from the ego and worship it; the result will be the negatives of any ego worship. 3. The pope knew the problems his hate speech would induce; he's no different from a religious muslim leader inciting violence. 4. Muslims essentially prove the validity of the hate speech by their reactions (when the previous pope said negative things against buddhism, no violent reaction occurred).

so do jews: it began off with moses interior the egyption situations. He replaced into given the taurah (jewish holy e book). Then christians some 1000 years later - jesus (bible) then Muhammed a mutually as later - lyke interior the 4 hundred (ac) - the Quran All 3 religions will stick to those prophets. There are a selection of of prophets. the 1st Adam and the final Muhammed. With many interior the middle. The arabic names are diverse to the english ones . it is why muslims will call jesus - eesa and david could be dawood in arabic adam = adam in the two languages. so there is not any longer probably an argument - it extremely is purely human nature - in no way satisfied - desire i replaced into some help :-)

I think the Pope made a big mistake. I am Christian, and I have had a big problem with Muslim terrorists. But this is bad...
Freakin Muslims have a right to complain about this. This wasn't me or you saying something about Muslims, this was the Pope! The head of the Catholic Church! And the problem is some of these Muslims are radicals, so now what...Christian killing, Pope assasination, this could be biblical.

Or it could just go away

I'm glad that someone finally understands what is happening in the scene now.
I'm Muslim and i agree with you in almost everything..yes..i don't bear anyone belittle my religion or make fun of my God or his prophet..but that doesn't mean that i should be violent at all.
many enlightened mullah and religion ppl in my country dealt actually in a very civilized way and they just asked the pope for an apology..and even when the Danish cartoon (that made fun of prophet Mohamed) was published months ago they went to meet with ppl their in organized seminars to show them what is Islam and let all ignorant be informed that Islam is not about blood shedding ...at all.
we shouldn't remind Christians with their dark history..but we should defend our religion by all peaceful means and be more civilized
and thank you.

"Who is a liar but he that denieth that Jesus is the Christ? He is antichrist, that denieth the Father and the Son."

Muslims outright deny the Sonship of Jesus Christ; therefore, Islam is of the Devil. Islam is a damnable organization, who denies Jesus Christ. Don't believe the lie, not for one second--that Muslims and Christians worship the SAME God. No, we don't! The Koran clearly states in, The Women 4.171, that God has NO Son. In sharp contrast, John 3:16 in the Word of God declares that God DOES have a Son, "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life." The Koran even goes as far as to claim that Jesus never died, nor was He crucified (The Women, 4.157). Clearly, Islam and Christianity are DIAMETRICALLY opposed. Yet, the Devil comes to us through MANY false prophets today, even President George W. Bush, who falsely claims that Christians and Muslims worship the SAME God. Allah is a pagan god, who has no son. Jesus Christ is Almighty God (John 10:33; Revelation 1:8), the second Person of the Godhead (John 1:1-3,10; Matthew 28:19-20), the Christ (Luke 2:11), and He is the Son of God (John 3:16)! 1st John 4:14 declares, "And we have seen and do testify that the Father sent the Son to be the Saviour of the world." Over 1,000,000,000 Muslims deny Jesus Christ as Savior, and are headed straight for Hell.

The Catholic church is and was the enemy of all non-Catholics.

Why any non-Catholic would give a Catholic any kind of support is beyond me. The Catholic church has and is attempting to dominate the world. The only difference between Catholics & Muslims is that the Catholics have the US & GB to do their fighting for them. And US & GB taxpayers to foot the bill for their attempted global expansion.

The pope knew exactly what he was saying and his intention was to incite violence in Muslim communities. And to incite a violent response by US & GB taxpayer supported armies.

The Catholic church was corrupt from the day it was invented by Roman Emperor Constantine and it is corrupt to this day.
