Yes, and now as an adult I can honestly say that everytime she did, I deserved it.

Never in my life got hit by either of my parents - I had priviledges taken away instead.
I dont think children should be hit with any object - yes ok I know some children are smacked on the bottom, which provided isnt with overdue force I can agree with - but belts etc - no, I dont have children, but should I have them in the future - they will be disciplined the same was I was - grounding, not allowing them participate in their hobbies for a certain period - I think it is a more positive way of punishing them anyway - being hit only turns you against your peers and begrude them, whereas these methods make you rethink your actions for the future.

My mum used to hit me alot, not because i was naughty, it was because maybe the housework was not up to her standard, she used to beat with the rolling pin, slipper, stick anything she can get her hands on, i used to get scared, she would come into my bedroom swing the door open so fast, that when i am asleep i used to shake and was scared, even as i am typing this reply my eyes are filling up, i was only 13/14/15 years old, she used to say alot of horrible things to me, i am the eldest of five, i had to look after my younger brothers and sister. At once i couldn't take it anymore so i tried to commit suicide, by taking alot of pills, i felt my parents didn't love me. I am 40years old, i still think about it now and again, it still hurts, but she is still my mum.

Yes, when I was really naughty and I deserved it! There is quite a difference between a slap on the bottom and child abuse, an occasional slap does no harm and teaches children that their actions have consequences, few kids these days learn that, they think they can get away with anything because we are not allowed to disipline them anymore! Thank goodness mine are now grown up!

she did once, but it was not like a huge belt or anything, just a slap. She only ever needed to smack me once, because I knew she would follow through if I did not listen to the warning first. I adore my parents and think they did an amazing job of bringing us up, and I am grateful for the discipline we learnt as kids. If parents these days followed the old regime there would be no need for people like Super Nanny to come and sort out unruly kids.

Yes when i deserved it a hard slap here and there. at school i got the slipper or ruler across my hands. it didn't do me any harm when i look back now they showed me the right way. it was harder in them times than it is in these times they didn't have much time in those days because they both worked hard for their family or 6 and now we work hard my hubby and i to look after a family of 4 and we take the time to listen to them that's important these days we're growing up with are kids has our parents did with us only we have a better understanding of our kids today. because of the way we were has kids, and we were nothing like some of the kids of today.

Yes, I was smacked by both parents when I was naughty. I learnt pretty fast though, and it wasnt long before it was just the rasied voice that got me running for cover! Did me the world of good, and im not ashamed to admit it. I would do the same to my kids, as I do not want them growing up, lacking discipline.

sometimes, if i was really naughty, most of the time she just threatened it. i can remember being hit on the backs of my legs once and it really hurt!!

once when i was about 4 or 5, my parents were going out to a concert and i didnt want to stay at home and be baby-sat by my big sisters, i was holding on to my mum and crying, then my dad ripped me off of her and slapped me on my thigh so hard that he left a big red hand print, i was only wearing knickers at the time and it really hurt. the next day when my mum was giving me a bath, she made him come and look at my leg, i can still hear her saying "look what you did to her!!!" he never hit me again after that.

Yep once when i stole 20 pence from the living room to get an ice cream and am thank full for it as I never stole again lol
The second time was when I was a teen being told to do something and really pushing my luck and slamming and breaking things you know how it goes.
So only twice but it never done me no harm.

Yes and it taught me right from wrong. I was naughty and I knew it. The only time I got hit for not doing anything wrong was when my little sister fell over I laughed and dad ran out to see what was happening. My little sister lied and said that I had hit her ( What a liar ) anyway dad put me over his knee and tanned my hide.
I suppose that I shouldnt have laughed at her misfortune.

My mum used to kick, bite and beat with wooden spoons, hairbrushes, wooden shoes and anything else she could get her hands on. She swore, shouted and called me names too. This was all day in day out. She starved me regurarly. I don't understand how any mother could hurt their child cause it doesn't matter what a child does they don't deserve that. I had to have counselling because of what she did to me.
