Many researches suggest that ADHD may be hereditary, as it often runs in families. Autism - there may be some genetic factors, but generally, most researchers agree that autism probably results from many separate causes.

There is no clinical evidence that they def are however, it is highly likely that if you have an autistic spectrum disorder you will have a relative or two with either undiagnosed conditions or quirky personalities.
The prob is they are still trying to research genes which may cause or contribute to autistic spectrum disorders (of which ADHD is one). It is an area where science still knows very very little.
However, if someone suffers from an asd, there is no suggestion anywhere that their child necessarily will suffer in the same way. Having said that, taking the science out of the equation, my friends child is in a special school and a handful of the parents there most certainly have some form of asd.
Good question.

I believe that there may be an inherited tendency towards these conditions.
For ADD and ADHD options there are good info and options discussed in Encyclopedia of Natural Medicine (Murray and Pizzorno) and in Precription For Natural Cures (Balch and Stengler). ((See also Miracle Cures by Jean Carper and Magnet Therapy by Lawrence and Rosch)).
Not much out there on autism, but a short chapter in The Natural Pharmacy edited by Skye Lininger. Good luck.

I have a son who has autism , i was told it was hereditary as i have two members of my family that have the condition, but i recently saw a geneticist and she said the complete opposite. so in some cases it may run in families it just depends.

I suspect they can be, but my brother has autism and noone else in our family does.
ADHD I think may have something to do with family background, although is not necessarily genetic.
I dont think there is much scientific evidence either for or against.

both have varying degrees in them . most causes appear from neurobiology or genetics, but certainly in the case of adhd, can be influenced by enviromental factors.
