I have to say I have very little confidence in the British Justice system...but, I'm from Belfast. However it seems to fail on several counts...There are of course the examples of criminals realeased early, mollycoddled and the the bleeding heart brigade and then at the other end of the Spectrum there are people like the Birmingham 6 and Guilford 4, wrongly imprisoned for years due to forced confessions and forged evidence.. But could it be tht we all know about these cases because they are EXTREME SENSATIONAL copy? Maybe there's a happy medium in ther somewhere? Would you read a newspaper story about a petty thief given 200 hours community service?

no, not at all. there are too many stories from heartbroken families who have lost relatives to murderers, drunk drivers, rapists, hit and run drivers etc, and the punishments are short sentences which aren't fulfilled due to release on paroll.
too many people hide behind their 'human rights' to avoid punishment. what about the rights of the victims and their families? maxine carr is a prime example... why should she have ever been released when the families of those poor little girls are serving a life long torturing sentence of bereavement and heartbreak. she didn't deserve to leave prison at all, let alone early.
there is no justice in the british justice system... none at all.

No..! We live in a land where a Granny doing 1mph over the speed limit in her Disabled Buggy can get imprisoned for 6 months... meanwhile - round the corner a mad - out on licence - Gary Glitter type weirdo is prowling around a School playground ..gets caught and is sent to Florida on a Rehabilitation course... and ..has protection from angry parents..
Just a sample of unbelievable stories you will find in any of Britain's daily Newspapers.

In this modern day and age - NO!
Justice has to be served on all! However, the UK parliment has allowed justice to be trodden on by foreigners comprised of misfits and religious nutters. You cannot have a fair society with different sets of rules. All those who come to the UK should be made aware that our law is to be abided by and observed! Its not subject to dilution at the whim of others. If you dont like it / don/t come! They came to the UK for a better life! Why then does parliment think we have to change our culture, society and traditions to appease those who will not accept it? Run them off - send them first to appreciation camps - then transport them back from whence they came!

I work within the justice system and it does work sometimes. Not always, i'll grant you. However, the papers are very quick to jump on the bad stories that happend occaisionally but say NOTHING about the hundreds of successful cases. And yes there are LOADS of successes out there, but there not as interesting and don't sell as many papers do they?

I work in it and I can truthfully say "no". There is interference at an unprecedented level from individuals with politics and maintenance of the corporate mindset at the heart of their political thinking. There is no justice for the poor, the young, the elderly - in short for the "weakest" members of society. There is one law for the rich, well-off, famous and middle and upper classes and everyone else just has to take pot luck.

their development after world war 2 is sufficient proof that the bristish judicial system is fair and free.....kindly consider winston churchill's question when he asked if the courts were working well....the answer was in the affirmative and that explains how they have come so far.....let me comment further if that is your hidden aspect of asking the question.....if it pertains to british courts handling the recent alleged accused of terror plots believe me as a person watching these trials from far away i still have faith in the british judicial system....

No i do not, i think it has been failing us for along time now. We are to lax and excepting in it. I do believe there needs to be a complete overhaul on the system and the way it works, in fact i am writing an article along these lines so if you would like to give your input, you are more than welcome to do so, i have a few questions on here myself, you can contact me via them.
