It is better than coconut oil that is for sure.
I wouldn't do it as often as once a week because it is an oil, maybe once every couple of weeks.
Regis & BoRics Salons carry an Olive Oil shampoo that works great too, I've purchased it before and totally love it and it is their own line so it is not expensive at all. You should check that out as well.
Good Luck,
Stylist of 9 yrs.

My daughter has waist length hair which we have always taken great care of. My mother is Italian and she suggested years ago that once every couple of weeks I massage my daughters hair with olive oil, leave it on overnight and then washout the following day. My daughter has the most beautiful head of hair you could ever wish for. She has regular trims but never has any problems with split ends or that dried out look that sometimes effects people with very long hair.

try an olive oil mask for your hair once a week. see Sephora or L'Occietane stores for the best olive oil hair masks.

I don't know about that, but i heard its the best oil to use health wise for cooking. I heard something about putting mayo in your hair too.

I wouldn't. There are oil treatments made just for hair, I'd try one of them if your hair is dry. But keep away from food products!

It's a treatment to make your hair glossier. Think it's also supposed to add volume

Don't. It's just greasy and smelly. And I heard it takes 4 shampoos to get it out.
